Yet another SI question

Someone is rescuing with a solo hero.  I have 2 mounted Assyrian Archers.  For my block, I use Archer #1, d2 and play Siegeworks.  I then band to Archer #2, d2 and play Razor (targeting the hero).  Can my opponent play an ItB enhancement to stop both Siegeworks and Razor (and give them an opportunity to remove both archers via ability so they aren't defeated)?  Can they play an ItB enhancement if I use Razor to target something besides the hero (so I'm not creating SI off the last card I played)?

Yes, they can play ITB because it interrupts all abilities that are causing all characters on that side of the battle to be removed from battle.  Both enhancements remove the hero from battle, and so ITB interrupts both.  If they defeat both Archers with that ITB, then the abilities don't have the opportunity to reactivate, and they therefore do not happen.

My question is less about Special Initiative, but can you actually play 2 cards that remove the same hero?

No reason why not, as the hero can be a legal target until actually removed from battle.  That cannot technically happen until SI is over, and since the first ability allows SI, the hero is 'still there' even if the ability has 'completed' as far as that definition goes.

I do not know if the current rules of SI would allow you to play a single-target interrupt/negate as a response, though, the definition of SI is vague in that specific scenario.  Interesting question, and would have to be answered by an Elder, honestly.  I could make arguments either way from the definition we have.

And this is one of the reasons I will always argue that Special Initiative should suspend all abilities until it finishes. That makes the question easy to understand what happens, well, except if the band actually happens if the Archer is removed. But since it activated, but didn't get negated, I would suggest it does (similar to Spy + Warrior's Spear.

See, that's part of the problem.  If I gave you a card with two abilities, and the first part caused SI, the second still happens.  In the proposed interpretation, because of the 'pausing', you've now stopped mid-ability.  This is the same thing as stopping in the middle of chained abilities, and having to ask what still activates.  Simplicity and consistency are in the current solution.
