Everyone,

There is a new comprehensive guide for all things Official Rulings, which should serve as a one-stop, and first-stop, for everyone posting here.

As such, the old posts where everything had been separate will be unstickied and allowed to rest among the thousands of old threads in this board.

Here is where you can provide input for any of the following:
1. You think something is incorrect, or there is a typo.
2. You find a rule that is missing that is not in the new REG, the new Rulebook, and is not in that thread.
3. You think of a great FAQ that can be added.
4. You have any thoughts that could help us make it better!

Feel free to post here or PM me as you are comfortable!

I will make responses here as changes are made, for documentation purposes.

UPDATED 3/2/2014

Added FAQ regarding promos with no verse.

At Prof U's great suggestion, all FAQ have been numbered, and the initial post of the thread has all questions (and question numbers) listed with a link to the particular post where that answer can be found.

UPDATED 10/21/2014

Updated Question 18 based on a ruling on 'except' abilities, adding the underlined sections:

Quote
18. What happens if a card has more than one brigade, and my ability only affects one?  What about ignore, protection, and immunity from these kinds of characters?  What about cards that let me target other cards 'except' a particular brigade?
Any card is a valid target for any ability for which it meets the conditions.  So, if an evil character is multi-brigade and an effect can target gold brigade, it could still target the evil character (since it meets the condition).

If a card ignores, is protected from, or is immune to specific types of cards, it can do so for any card that meets any of the types specified.  So, Miriam ignores gold brigade, and therefore ignores any evil character with gold brigade (even if they are all evil brigades).  Further, because she is immune to gold brigade, if she did end up in a battle with a character with multiple brigades, as long as one of those brigades was gold, she would be immune (through ignore) to any effects played by that character (because it is still the ignored gold evil character who is causing the effect).

For cards like Ashdod, Rome, and Zimri, son of Salu, a card is a legal target if it has a legally-targeted brigade other than the brigades indicated as being excluded.

UPDATED 11/3/2014

Updated Other Rules and Updates Outside of the Rulebook & REG with the definition for Territory-Class Characters:

Territory-Class Character
Territory Class characters have abilities that activate when placed in battle in the same way as all other characters.  The abilities also activate each time the character is placed in a territory.  Territory Class character abilities that are active outside of battle are active while the character remains in the territory.  This also means that their ability ends when they leave battle or territory.

UPDATED 5/27/2015

Added two questions to the FAQ based on recent rulings, and removed them from the Unresolved Rulings:

29. How many Angry Mob (Ap, TEC1, TEC2, TEC3) or Legion (Di) cards can I include in a deck?
The identifier for Angry Mob from The Early Church allows a player to have 4 copies of that variant in a deck per 50 cards, meaning that it applies separately to each Angry Mob variant. Since each variant of the Early Church Angry Mob has a different brigade and art, each is considered a different card for deck building purposes, and so the identifier is specific to each variant.  A player may have 4 of each variant of The Early Church versions of Angry Mob per 50 cards in a deck.  The Angry Mob from Apostles does not have this identifier, and is limited by normal deck-building rules.

The identifier for Legion (each version) allows a player to have 4 copies total in a deck per 50 cards, in any mix.  Each variant has the same card art and title, and therefore they are considered duplicates for deck-building purposes.  So while they can be put in a deck in any combination, you may still only have 4 total per 50 cards in a deck, because the identifier refers to 4 copies total of these duplicate cards.

30. How do Zadok Annoints Solomon, Ashdod, Rome, and Zimri, son of Salu work with cards that have more than one brigade?
If a card has a brigade that meets the condition for these cards, they may be targeted or used even if they have the brigade mentioned as "except" because they can still meet the condition to be targeted.  Examples:
  • Ashdod: Scattered can be played because Philistines can use Brown, Crimson, and Gray enhancements through Ashdod, and Scattered has those brigades (even though it is also Pale Green).
  • Rome: Romans can still play Romans Destroy Jerusalem because they may play Crimson, Gray, Gold, Black, Brown, and Pale Green enhancements, which Romans Destroy Jerusalem is.  In addition, they are not restricted while Rome is in play from playing an enhancement they could already play, even though it is also Orange.
  • Zimri, son of Salu: Zimri may band to Foreign Wives since she has a brigade that is not Brown.  Even though she has Brown brigade, she still meets the condition through the other 6 brigades she has (and she is an Evil Character of each of those brigades for targeting).

UPDATED 8/11/2015

Removed the following due to REG 3.0.0 being published:

Quote
Sites and Abilities
Abilities on single-color sites are always active.  Abilities on multi-color sites are only active when they are added to battle.

Limit of One Successful Rescue per Opponents' Turns
If a player makes a successful rescue attempt, that player may not make another rescue attempt until each of their opponents has had a turn.

Hand Limit
At no time may the cards in a player's hand exceed 16.  This rule takes precedence over any instruction on a card.  If a card is played that instructs a player to draw cards, that player must stop at 16 regardless of the number of cards to be drawn.  During Discard Phase the active player must still reduce their hand to 8 or less.

Maximum Deck Size
No Type 1 Deck may contain more than 154 cards.  No Type 2 Deck may contain more than 252 cards.

Actions During Discard Phase
All actions that are legal during the discard phase can be performed in any order the player chooses, including the discard of cards from their hand. Discarding cards from hand does not have to be the last action taken by the player.

Duplicate Character Rules
Players are restricted from performing optional game rules that would result in a player controlling multiple copies of the same unique character.  A card is protected from any ability that would cause that card to become a second copy of a unique character controlled by a single player.  If a player does end up controlling multiple copies of a unique character, all copies of that character except the original copy are discarded regardless of protection.

Note: Captured characters are not characters and thus do not affect these rules.

Custom Heroes Not Legal
Custom Heroes purchased at Boston Nationals in 2010 are no longer tournament legal.

Sleeved Tournament Decks
All decks submitted for tournament play must be appropriately sleeved.

First Strike
If there are first strike abilities on both sides of battle and the battle ends in a mutual destruction state, the characters are discarded as normal for mutual destruction, regardless of first strike.  If both sides have characters with the ability, then no character gains the benefit of surviving mutual destruction.

Special Initiative
Special Initiative now suspends abilities (see link for details).

Toss
Toss is now regardless of protection or immunity.

Adjusted FAQ on Ignore (#16) based on new rules.

Removed the following as a result of new rules/rulings.  For the first question, follow the newest rulebook, which was a change over previous versions:

Quote
What are the rules on 'same card' for deck-building?
See this post.  Essentially, the old rules referred only to characters, but the new language in the REG is cards.  Questioning whether this is intentional or an oversight, given the responses of Elders on the issue of 'same card' enhancements.

Do characters/enhancements have only one chance to activate?
Evolved through a discussion regarding Foreign Wives, where a lot of the debate boiled down to whether characters/enhancements that were prevented could later activate.  Elders (past and present posts) on both sides.

Is there an addition to the basic rule book in the I/J starter deck that explains sites, forts, artifacts, and curses?  Do I just need to revert to the previous starter deck rule book?

Sadly there is not. The best resource for that information at present in the 10th Edition Rulebook.
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

Well...interesting....since those really make the game very interesting and challenging.   Are the rules for those things in the 10th edition considered official?  I know sometimes rules change a bit.

http://www.cactusforums.com/downloads/rulebook_10th_anniversary.pdf

Here is a link for the 10th Anniversary rulebook.

If the 10th Anniv. rulebook conflicts with the 4th ed, the 4th edition is the most up to date so use that one.

For things like Sites, Artifacts, etc that do not show up in the 4th ed, the 10th Anniv rulebook is official.

A lot of these rules are specific to certain abilities but this is another good list to keep an eye on for major rule changes.

I think it would be important to define good, evil and neutral brigades in the REG Glossary as it nowhere says what they are and some cards like e.g. The Murdering Pharaoh use the number of e.g. good brigades opponent has in play. Otherwise one would think Sites would have good brigades as the same brigades are Hero brigades...
