Goshen v Brought into Battle

These questions have been bugging me for quite awhile.

1. Does Goshen protect Characters from being brought out into battle by an opponent?
♦If I send out my hero, my opponent sends out a bronze baddie, and my opponent uses Siege, do the heroes in my Goshen get brought into battle as well?
♦If not, wouldn't Goshen make for a bit of a disadvantage?
♦If so, do cards like Lies still allow the opponent to choose the character I use if the character they choose is in Goshen?

2. Does Goshen protect Characters from being brought out into battle by their holder?
♦If I use Praises, will my white brigade characters in Goshen be brought into battle?
♦If Asahel is in Goshen, and I send out Abishai, can I still bring Asahel into battle via banding?
♦Say, how would sending a character in Goshen out to battle even work?

3. Are characters in Goshen/Kingdoms of the World considered to be in your territory?
♦If not, this gives them an extreme disadvantage when using certain cards.
♦And if they're not in your territory, where are they?  Set aside?  In this case, they would not be considered to be in play.  That has HUGE ramifications.
♦If they are considered to be in your territory, how come Golden Censer says, "Evil characters return to territory"?
♦If Goshen characters are not considered to be in your territory, are they "protected" by Wall of Protection?
♦Same question for other cards that refer to characters in your territory.

4. In the rulebook, a set phase is stipulated for adding or removing cards from sites "as specified by the fortress."  How would this work with Goshen/KotW?  Goshen/KotW says, "Following draw phase..."
♦If you can use that other phase, can you then set down Goshen/KotW and play characters in them on the same turn?
♦Can still you remove/exchange characters from your hand, or has that changed?

5. Is Wall of Protection's effect optional?
♦Please say yes.  Otherwise, Siege and cards like it completely destroy Wall of Protection when used by the opponent.
♦If no, why would anyone ever use such a terrible card?

6. How does setting aside a character in Goshen/KotW work?
♦If I use, say, Prayer and fasting, to set aside, say, Moses, and he was in Goshen directly before I set him aside, when he returns, does he automatically return to Goshen, or does he return to my territory/the territory outside of my Goshen?  (Unless I'm mistaken, this would mean I would have to wait for my next draw phase before I could bring him back into Goshen.)
☼If he returns to Goshen, and three heroes are in Goshen, is one booted out?
☼And if so, before he returns, am I allowed to occupy that space in Goshen with a third hero, or is it "reserved" for Moses?
☼And if so, do I have to remove the third hero from Goshen first, or can I leave the hero there when Moses returns and force Moses to not return to Goshen?
☼If he does return to Goshen automatically, is he then considered to be in Goshen while set aside?  (If so, cards like A Look Back would not affect him.)
♦Applying this to cards like Moses Kills Egyptian or Foolishness of Five Virgins, if a character coming from Goshen is set aside, do they return to Goshen when they come back?  If so, I ask the same questions as above.
♦Applying this to Kingdoms of the World, If an EC set aside from KotW is still considered to be under the protection of KotW (essentially in KotW,) can Admiral band that character into battle from the EC's set-aside location?

I know these are a lot of questions, but I have been curious about this for a long time.  I just didn't want to post it with the other stream of questions because I figured I was posting a lot of questions as it was.

Thank you for your patience,
Ammian

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
5. No
6. You can't

4. The default rule for Fortresses is that if they have a "hold" ability and don't specify how to remove/add, you can do it during your prep phase.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Interesting ...I might take all of those cards out of my decks then...

So how does sending a character in your Goshen out into battle work? Actually, I'd like a more detailed answer to number 3.  You mean to say Abishai really can't band to Asahel if Asahel is in Kingdoms of the World?  And do you mean that Goshen's ability isn't optional - even if the holder is the one sending/bringing them out?

If so ...ouch.  That totally changes my understanding of those sites.

Thank you for your help already,
Ammian

You can't attack from Goshen or block from KotW, and you can't band to characters in them.

Gotcha ...interesting.  What's the point of Kingdoms of the World then?

You don't have to worry about territory distruction cards for the peeps in the two fortresses.

Yeah ...but the peeps are useless whilst in the two fortresses anyway...

"Look!  My Prince of this World survived!"
"Look!  You can't use it to block this turn so it doesn't matter!"
"Oh no!  You're right!  Why would I do that?"
"Because!"

I hope no one's had a conversation like that...

Thanks,

Countless people have had countless games where their opponent wipes out their defense and then they lose because they don't draw another ec.

Another good reason is if you are saving them for later and you need room in your hand.
