Rescuer's Choice and Exchanging

Playing T2 rescuer's choice, the rescuing player chooses a generic Lost Soul to rescue with their O.T. Hero.  Blocking player plays Prisoner Transfer to exchange their N.T. Only Lost Soul with their generic Lost Soul in the same Land of Bondage.  Does this effectively deny the O.T. Hero access?

According to the outcome of the exchange with rescuer's choice discussion, that works, right?

Guess we got that one wrong...fortunately it didn't affect the outcome since Chris used it on me next turn anyway to stop me.  :P

I didn't think so, but Bryon said it worked...unless he missed the part about it being in the same Land of Bondage...

Do we have an official definition for "exchange" and what it does?

Hey,

I can't find a definition for exchange anywhere.  But my gut says no you cannot exchange two cards that are in the same location (it's not much of an exchange if both of them end up in the same place that they started in).

hey,

I would get even more specific with that question. Yes, the Lost Souls in question are in the same Land of Bondage, but are you asking whether you can exchange at least one Lost Soul into/outof a site or are you asking whether you can exchange Lost Souls that might happen to be in the same part of a Land of Bondage (both in the general LoB or both in a Site)?

Ugh.  I completely missed the part about them being in the same Land of Bondage.  I wondered why Gabe was even asking the question, since it seemed so easy.   :-[

I agree with Tim's gut, but I DO think you can exchange two souls in the same territory if one is in a site and the other is not in that site.

So, you're saying it wouldn't work to exchange a targeted LS in a general LoB with another siteless LS in that same LoB?

I agree that exchanging is a switching of location.  Therefore, you could switch a LS in your LoB for one in your opponent's LoB.  You could also switch a LS in your LoB for another one that is in a site in you LoB.  However, if there are 2 LS in your LoB that are in identical locations (either not in sites, or in the same sites like Babylons), then no exchange could occur.

Targeting is a separate issue though I think.  If you switch a LS of yours that has been targeted in T2 with an opponent's, then the opponent's LS now becomes the targeted one.  Therefore, it seems that if you switch a LS of yours that has been targeted in T2 with another LS of yours in a site, then the one that just came out of the site would become the new targeted one.
