well this might be interesting

Ok interesting scenario here. If my opponent makes a rescue attempt with Salome (ignore evil characters with weapons) and I block with Abimelech what happens if I play Ishibibenob's spear? Technically I'm underdecking here but as I play it I become ignored since her ability is already activated and ongoing. I think I know how this works but I'm often wrong. . .  ;) how do you guys think this works?
As always thanks in advance. :)

I'm no expert, but my guess would be since he isn't actually holding the weapon, she would be underdecked. Her ability wouldn't update until after Spear's ability is completed, at which time he isn't holding it and she's too late. However, if Spear's ability was negated, but it was not discarded, then her ability would update, ignoring Abimilech.

But again, I'm no expert, so I could be way off.

Do characters hold new weapons in battle? I don't think so because after words you can decide to keep it or toss. So I don't think she ever ignores this character.

That's my guess but I'm no expert either  ;)

I don't see why this would be the case, when I play a weapon on my character that character now has a weapon, now if the technical definition of hold is it has to be equipped previous to battle as I think you're saying then this is a pretty boring question.

I checked the definition of hold. The Hobbit is correct. This is not so interesting after all I'm afraid. :(

More importantly, Salome's ignore wouldn't even kick in until after you finish with Ishy's spear. So if you are playing it for it's ability then it has to resolve before Salome could ignore your EC.

Exactly. Even if it counted as holding to simply play it, because it's ability activates before Salome's, it's activated and gone before her ability has a chance to do anything.

A related question of my own, completely hypothetical. If Salome begins a rescue attempt, opponent uses Golgotha, blocks with a NT EC holding Ishy's spear, which is used. Then you play words of encouragement on Salome to interrupt the battle then band in Isaiah with call, who negates Golgotha. Then what happens? The abilities would reactivate in the order they were played, correct? So Salome would activate first, now ignoring the EC. Then spear would activate, but now Salome is ignoring it. Yes? Then what about of the opponent negates words of encouragement? Does the reactivation not happen and Salome is still underdecked?

I believe that Spear would finish activating before Salome gets to ignore the EC, but I could be wrong.

Don't bother trying to negate WoE to use spear as if Salome was ignoring before spear was able to finish, meaning I was wrong above, then spear would have been discarded without underdecking anyone as its target was immune when it reactivated. This would leave the EC with no weapon and thus would no longer be ignored. But nothing you do to WoE will get your Spear back.
