Weird situation

During a game, my opponent went for a rescue attempt with Isaiah( after I got the Anti-burial soul), and since Isiah had call and negated souls I buried.
Is this legal?

No, the negate defaults to souls in play. Any soul in deck, discard pile, And land of redemption are out of play so they cannot be targeted by the negate.

So does lampstand, and at tournaments I have had it ruled that it protects from falling away.

That ruling was right. I believe it was determined that "not in battle" includes Land of Redemption.

Red Wing is correct about Lampstand and Jmbeers is correct about the Anti-Burial LS.

Your play was not legal.

Because lampstand says "all cards not in battle" it is telling you that it protects cards not in play too.

Not in play includes: deck, discard pile, any face down card (including deactivated artifacts), hand, cards that are set aside, and land of redemption.

In Play includes: territory, battle, active artifact, and land of bondage.

If you look at the 2 lists you see lampstand protects almost everything.

And yet from what I remember it doesn't protect from mayhem somehow... :P

The ruling is that Hand and Deck are not included in the 'outside of battle' clause I think it's because they aren't/were never in play this game but it includes everything else.
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

We already covered this in another thread. Forced Drawing is the only exception.

The idea is that "Not in Battle" defines a very specific area, which includes Lands of Redemption but does not include hands. It takes some getting used to, and may seem arbitrary, but I remember my frustration with it when it was first announced.

No of us were trying to say Mayham didn't work, just that we think it shouldn't. It dosen't make a huge difference to the game one way or the other so I'm not too worried about it  :D

I still think "not in battle" should default to play. But "not in battle" is Play (that isn't in battle) set aside and Land of Redemption. It does not include: Hand, deck, discard pile, removed from the game or battle (yes I realize this one is obvious).

I however am not sure how it deals with facedown cards in any of the zones that it includes, such as artifacts in the pile and face down characters in territory or set aside.

Face-Down Arts aren't in play. Personally I agree w/ you that it should default to play, but I guess I don't mind the other option either.

This could have been answered much more easily by pointing out that after they're rescued, they're now redeemed souls.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Isn't your LoR out of play meaning LotS wouldn't protect that either?

All cards "not in battle" are those in territory, set-aside, and Land of Redemption.

Hand, deck, and discard are not "not in battle" due to a ruling that came out of cards like Angry Mob (instead of deal with the actual cards, the definition itself changed).

Lampstand protected from Falling Away, but not from Mayhem.

These are the current rules, and I wanted to make sure they were in one place in this thread, as snippets got into several posts, and they needed consolidated and confirmed.  Disagreement on what the ruling should be is another matter entirely ;)
