My understanding is that weapons are treated like every other enhancement during battle - meaning enhancements played on one hero that is removed from battle hang around in battle when another hero is left in battle who can play it. If no hero remaining in battle can play the enhancement it is immediately discarded. The place function of weapons only comes into play outside of battle and at the end of a battle where you may choose one weapon from battle to stick on a character for next time.Kirk

Would it be different if I banded to Ira, a non-red hero?
I believe this based on the new revelation concerning how weapons don't follow holder in battle.
