Warrior class and Enhancement questions

Questions from a Newbie.....

1) When there is a reference to "Warrior Class", how is that determined on older cards that don't have any text under the illustration box? Is a card with a red frame around it considered to be a Warrior class card?

2)I understand that an enhancement card can be played inside a Battle and outside a Battle. If it is played in Battle, the Brigade color has to match the Hero's (or Evil character) Brigade color. The special ability will fire off and the numbers will be added to the Hero's numbers. However, if an enhancement is played outside of Battle only the special ability is used and the numbers are ignored. My question is: If an enhancement with a special ability is played outside the Battle, does the Brigade color of that enhancement have to match any Hero or Evil Character's Brigade color currently in a Battle?

3)Can an Enhancement with a special ability be played outside of Battle if there is no Battle going on?

Thanks!

1.  Warrior class, or contemporary wording "warrior" is when a character has the shield symbol underneath its icon/numbers box.  Here's an example of one:

2.  Anytime an enhancement is played in or out of battle it must be played on a character of matching brigade (unless an ability allows you to do otherwise) that it's being played on.  So if it's a territory class enhancement, like Angelic News (I deck), it needs to be played on a silver hero in your territory or a silver hero in battle.

3.  Yes, so long as it's a territory class enhancement (oasis symbol under the icon box), set-aside enhancement, or a healing enhancement.  All enhancements can be played in battle; only the 3 types I mentioned can be played outside of battle.  You can also equip a weapon (shield symbol on an enhancement) to a warrior character (has the other shield symbol on the character) of matching brigade in territory.  The enhancement doesn't do anything until that character enters battle, at which time the character's ability activates first, then the weapon activates.

Thanks for the info!

To be clear.....If there are no character cards in the territory or in battle an enhancement with a special ability on it can not be played and the ability activated?

It would be kind of cool if there were cards that did this!

Correct. Enhancements need a character to be played on. There’re kind of enhancements that can be played without a character. Although once played on a character they remain in territory. They are called placed enhancements. Gamaliel’s Speech is one of these. Once it’s played on a clay or gray character, it remains in territory until you use it, even if all clay and gray characters are no longer on your side of the board.
