Visions (FF)

Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Green • Ability: 2 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: Select one of your Evil Characters to fight a blocking Evil Character. Prevent all special abilities on opponent’s Enhancements during that battle. • Play As: Select one of your Evil Characters to fight a blocking Evil Character in a side battle. Prevent all special abilities on opponent’s Enhancements during that battle. • Identifiers: OT, Based on Prophecy • Verse: Daniel 7:1 • Availability: Faith of our Fathers booster packs (None)

Does this even work? The blocking evil character can't enter battle a second time. Even if it's generic*.

*I asked that a long time ago and that was the answer I got. It may have changed since then, I haven't been attentive in regards to rule changes.

Also, I'm off to class. Be back in 90 minutes.

Moving from the main battle to a side battle isn't "entering battle a second time."  It's moving from battle, to battle.

The side battle is a separate battle. In order to be a part of it, you must enter it.

The ruling should use the verbiage "cannot enter the battlefield a second time..."

So, can anyone confirm that Visions is broken? In that it doesn't work, not that it's overpowered. I couldn't even find where the "enter battle a second time" rule change was posted.

If your interpretation were correct, none of the side battle cards could use a character currently in battle.

Absolutely. I just don't think this has come up before because side battles are rarely used, so no one has realized it.

I use them all the time.  As I said above, if the ruling is documented it needs to be changed to reference "battlefield" rather than "battle".

Right. Or we could just leave it as is and have Visions (and many other set asides) not work. I'm not interested in what the rule should be, I'm interested in what it is.

With that being said, I finally found the rule. Is this the most recent version?
Quote from: REG
A unique character can only enter the field of battle once per turn. A unique character in a battle is protected from entering another battle while it remains in battle. A unique character in a battle that leaves the battle is protected from entering any battle until the end of the turn.

So, it is field of battle. However, "A unique character in a battle is protected from entering another battle while it remains in battle. A unique character in a battle that leaves the battle is protected from entering any battle until the end of turn."? What does that even mean? Does that mean visions doesn't work?

Most likely, it means that part of the REG hasn't been updated since 1995.

We had this type of arguement at my Tournament a while ago, the ruling given is that u can make a Character in Battle start a side-battle regardless of who it is. The ruling applies only to cards that are thrown out of battle or having multiples of a Unique Character in battle. (i.e. Banding to an Opponents copy of it)
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game
