After reading this thread here, am I correct in assuming I cannot use my new Goliath Promo at MD States this year?

That stinks.  That makes Goliath completely useless for anyone not going to Nats.  I could understand not letting people use them at the tournament that they got him at, but not at any tournament until next season? When did this rule come about and where is it written.  I can find nothing in the REG, or the rule book.

The basis is that Cactus did not want to reward those who can travel to Regionals at future tounrament that season just because they were able to go and others were not.

I would think that is want they would want to do.  It might encourage tournament attendance.

Well, the problem is when people such as Soul Seeker and myself, who are close enough to attend both NE and MW regionals 3 weeks apart, show up at MW with our Goliath's, it doesn't seem like a fair deal to the MW players, who may be as far as 12 hours away from being able to attend the NE regional.

That logic works for Nationals as well though, doesn't it?

Agreed, but the difference is that, in theory, everyone will have had a Regional in there Region to try to get to so everyone is on the same level in theory.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with it, but it's still a problem with the very nature of CCG's. Someone who can only spend $50 on the game will simply never be at the same level as someone who purchases $200 to make a top-tier deck. The differences extend to even larger amounts. I vaguely recall someone (I think Gabe) having three decks checked for Nationals last year, and all of these decks were identical. The reason for this was because they were all 50 cards and contained Haman's Plot. I don't have the resources to do that, and thus, that person gains an advantage over me, simply because they have more resources spent on the game than I do. Money is power, to a certain extent.

I agree.  I'd like to be able to use my Goliath this year.

But thankfully that is less true in Redemption than any other CCG that I know of.  This is due to deliberate choices by Rob such as making the best card in the game, SoG, come in every starter deck, and this rule about not allowing new tourney promos at the same or lower tournaments for that year.  I for one appreciate it :)

I would still like to see proof because I was sure it was same tourney or higher.  Plus, I wanted to drop a surprise (or 2) on unsuspecting friends.   8)  :P
