If your opponent doesn't choose a LS when he makes a rescue attempt Does the blocker get to choose 1 that they are able to rescue (Doubler)Or do they just choose afterwards?

The way it's been played is that the rescuer must choose a lost soul when asked. I don't know if that is how it is officially supposed to work, but that is what happens in real games.

If the rescuer refuses to choose a lost soul at that point I would guess the blocker has the right to pick one. I say guess because I've never been in the situation where the rescuer said, "No, I'm not going to choose a Lost Soul to rescue," after he/she was asked.

I believe it is the blocker's responsibility to make sure the rescuer chooses the LS, and if he doesn't, as MJB said, then the rescuer looses his chance and the blocker may decide.

It's still rescuer's choice.  If they forgot to declare earlier, Bryon has had the rescuer choose a lost soul that was available to be rescued at the beginning of the battle to be the one they chose.  The rescuer can't refuse to choose one, though they could choose one they don't have access to.

As a judge I would rule that a rescuer cannot declare a rescue attempt and then--after the battle is complete--choose a lost soul he never had access to. This just to be fair to the blocker who may have chosen not to defend a battle challenge.

Of course, if the blocker is worried about this he should ask for the LS choice prior to placing a blocker into battle and help keep the judge from being forced to make such a decision.

That's why I say it's the blocker's responsibility to demand, not the rescuer's responsibility to choose.

+1.

It has to be legal to choose a lost soul they didn't have access to, as you can do that under the rules of rescuer's choice (as you could add site access or band for access later).

Really, just get into the habit of asking "which soul?" when they attack.

Hey,

Really, just get into the habit of asking "which soul?" when they attack.

You can do this in Type 1 games too and really confuse your opponents :)

:D I often do, albeit unintentionally.  I think it brings hope to the RLKs that the "big scary T2 guy" they were paired with doesn't even know the rules to T1.
