Is there any scenario in Type 2 where you can rescue a soul you generated that turn? I was playing a game last night where I was site locked out of all available souls. I keep wanting to play Joseph Before Pharaoh off of Hidden Treasures... but am I correct in presuming I would have to declare my Rescuers Choice before I could generate a soul?

What if there were no souls available at time of attack? I presume the old standard remains that my declared Battle Challenge would not have an opportunity to become a rescue.

If there are no souls available for rescue when you begin the battle, you cannot rescue any that turn. So cards like JBP off HT, Hosea and Woman at the Well don't let you rescue that turn. There are ways to generate souls before the battle (Gideon's call, fishers of men, water jar) but you can't rescue any you generate in the battle phase.

Yeah that's what I thought. Thanks Drrek! I knew soul generation prior to Battle would work fine, but running Genesis didn't afford me any option I could ever get to work (including drawing a hopper off of Zebulun... talk about depressing... "why didn't you come during the draw phase!")

One other thing I'd like to have confirmed:
When you play Grapes of Wrath in T2, do you get to declare a new soul to rescue?

Joey, you could use The Meal at Emmaus to activate Jacob's Ladder to get access to a lost soul that was generated during the rescue attempt.

Almost correct, Drrek. If Joey had asked about practical ways to achieve his end, you would have been completely correct.

If you're site locked, you can choose a LS you don't have access to, as long as it was in play at the start of the battle. Use JBP off Hidden Treasures to underdeck the site holding the chosen LS and you have a rescue attempt.

Yes, you begin a new battle and choose a new LS.

Zach was especially evil and had CP hanging out off to the side so if I underdecked the unoccupied CP it was still a battle challenge... I would love to have JBP'ed one of his occupied Golgothas but, of course, they were protected and JBP must negate and underdeck/capture the same target. So I wasted a battle on a CP that he prompted drew back the next turn lol... good times... I would like to point out that I did win 7-6 though... hard game!
