Two Possessed

As far as I can tell, I'm allowed to play this during my prep/discard phase to set aside my own humans, I'm just not allowed to target my opponent's humans unless it's played during battle. Is that correct?

Two Possessed by Demons (FF)

Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Orange • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set any 2 humans aside until Son of God is played. • Play As: Set aside any 2 humans until Son of God is played. • Identifiers: NT, Connected with Demons • Verse: Matthew 8:28

Depends, can Son of God rescue your opponent's lost souls?

From the rulings I have heard, this is correct.

I know there was some distinction in the old REG about using set-asides outside of battle, something to the effect of: your evil set-asides can only target your EC's and your good set-asides can only target your Heroes. I know you can use 2 Possessed in prep/discard to set aside your EC's, and you can't use it to set aside any of your opponent's cards in prep/discard, but I'm not 100% sure if you can set aside your own hero or not.

I agree with all points except the very last part. I think you can't set aside your hero unless it is played in battl, which opens up all humans as potential targets.

Thanks for your responses. I know what you're saying here used to be true, but when I look at the Set-Aside entry in the new REG it didn't address that point. I wasn't sure if that was intentionally omitted. Here's what I found:

Quote from: REG
A set-aside ability must target a card you own and control unless the set-aside card is either territory class or played in battle and gives no beneficial effect to the card set aside or the player that plays the set-aside card.

If the intention is to keep targeting the way it's always worked for the prep/discard phase should it say "...must target a card you own and control of the same alignment..." ?

It would be simpler not to require the target be the same alignment.  Does that cause any problems?  I can't think of any.

If there are not any problems caused by it, then disregard my answer and I agree with professoralstad completely.

It's a rare situation that you'd even want to target your cards of another alignment since that will typically be harming them. I don't see any problems with it, only a rare strategical use. Simpler rules and added strategy are both good things.
