I was just reading something in the intro to the "abilities" section of the REG that doesn’t seem to make sense and wanted to seek clarification.
If an ongoing ability is prevented, and the prevent is later negated, the ongoing ability activates at that point. If an ongoing ability is negated and the negation ends before the ongoing ability, the ongoing ability will reactivate when the next phase begins.
If I'm rescuing and play Ruth’s Vow, my opponent plays a negater, and then I negate his negater, the REG seems to suggest that RV does
not get to immediately reactivate. However, if RV had been prevented and then I later negated that prevent, the REG seems to suggest that RV
does get to immediately reactivate. So my question is: why does a
prevented ongoing ability get to reactivate immediately if the prevent is later negated, but a
negated ongoing ability must wait until the next phase to reactivate if the negate is later negated? It seems to me both scenarios should be treated the same.
