Torment + Uzzah/Zimri + Hormah

First of all, can you use the ability of King Zimri, Uzzah, etc (that say to discard them), and then play torment to stop them from being discarded?  If you do, did their special abilities still "fire"?

Second, if you CAN do the above, then can you also use Hormah's special ability (if your evil human is discarded you may place this site ....), or has that been stopped by playing Torment?

Yes on all counts. You can kill yourself and do whatever else, heal yourself, and still use Hormah.

There is a combo with all of this that makes use of this fact to provide several wonderful blocks.

He is probably referring to Trembling Demon w/ Seven Sons of Sceva and Torment (all with Holy of Holies activated to make TD CBN).

CBN abilities can never be negated (or interrupted or prevented) by anything ever ever ever.

So even with Holy of Holies up, The Twelve-Fingered Giant ("Negate all banding abilities. Cannot be negated.") keeps his ability.

If it's CBN then it's CBN. HoH isn't trying to negate anything that's CBN. Here's Trembling Demon's SA.

Trembling Demon

Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Orange • Ability: 0 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: If no good Enhancements are played this battle, protect all Lost Souls from rescue. Opponent may discard a good Enhancement from hand to negate this. • Identifiers: Generic NT Male Demon • Verse: James 2:19 • Availability: Faith of Fathers (Set 2)

HoH stops the second ability ("Opponent may discard a good Enhancement from hand to negate this.") Which is a negate ability, basically giving you a free block (as long as they don't get inish to play an enh.).

Well, that was one of them, but another is rescuing with providing angel to recur torment to keep healing uzzah.  If you could gather uzzah to one of the priests that recur an artifact, you could theoretically come up with infinite blocks through infinte recursions of artifacts to discard and torments to heal uzzah.  Its a variation of the ever popular King Zimri abuse.


of course pre-block ignore or FNTN scoff at Uzzah so is it really worth all the work?  I dunno...

He's stating that your first problem is keeping Providing Angel alive if you are constantly pulling Torment to save Uzzah.

What I was saying before was that even if you could find a way to band Uzzah to Queen Maachah, you could only keep one of them alive with Torment. That's why I think it's better to use TD with this, because he doesn't need to discard anything; you just need to have HoH up (and be losing by the numbers).

OoOoOoOoOh, yeah, and it is trembling demon, not PD (Panic demon?)  HoH in a glorified Temple and keep recurring Torment via Providing angel.  That works pretty good.


You just gotta figure out how to win, or at least not die with Providing angel!
