If I Torment my own Assyrian Survivor during battle if I play DoU or die by the numbers can he return to my territory or would he still go to my opponent's land of bondage? Does his "If defeated..." trigger before the heal would be played?
Second part of the question: Can I Torment my opponent's Assyrian Survivor if he plays DoU or dies by the numbers? Would he return to his territory?
Torment: Heal any Evil Character that is being discarded, except by a dominant.
Assyrian Survivor: Protected from discard abilities on opponent’s cards. If defeated, capture to opponent’s Land of Bondage. Cannot be interrupted.
Thanks ahead of time

The capture happens instead of the discard, so Assyrian Survivor is never actually discarded at any point. Thus, Torment will have no effect.

What you could do:
Activate your time travel device (or TARDIS if you have one), go back to your preparation phase, prevent Assyrian survivor somehow, then jump back to the present and you could heal survivor.
