Timing of Chozarin

How long does the Curse I activate there stay active? I always assumed it was until my next art management or perhaps upkeep, but I could also see it deactivating at the end of my turn. That would be unfortunate, since it would make the hold ability useless for everything but Given Over to Egypt. Halp?

Peter's Curse FTW.
One turn = until your next prep phase if I'm not mistaken.

That's what I thought. We played it upkeep last game, but I didn't think it was right in hindsight.

If it said one round, it would go one round. But since it says one turn, it goes one turn. You just have to memorize things like this...

I was in game with Polarius and in trying to rule on the card, I said it should deactivate during upkeep because it was the site that was triggered and would deactivate when the trigger completed, which i believed to be during the upkeep phase.

Chorazin (Di)
Type: Site • Brigade: Yellow • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Protect N.T. Evil Characters in your territory from conversion. When a Lost Soul is placed in this Site, you may activate a Curse here for one turn. • Identifiers: Jew • Verse: Matthew 11:21 • Availability: Disciples booster packs ()

Is it upkeep or prep phase like any other artifact when it deactivates? Does it follow the same rules of deactivating an artifact? can i choose when to deactivate it during the prep phase according to the rulebook?

I'm under the impression that Redemption uses the terms "Turn" and "Round" interchangeably in card special abilities.  That was my intention when I suggested that Chorazin be able to hold a Curse.  That's not what the REG currently says though.

Turn - A turn begins with the Draw Phase and ends with the Discard Phase. A player announces he is finished at the end of his turn.

Round - A round is completed when every player has taken a turn.

By the definitions in the REG:

Holy Grail can be used on my turn and then again on my opponent's turn.

Stalks of Flax only exchanges Heroes for the duration of my turn and my next opponent's turn (even in a multi-player game).

Chamber of Angels returns Heroes to the top of your deck after your next opponent completes their turn  (even in a multi-player game).

Mildewed House and the "Shame" Lost Soul go by pretty quickly.  I don't even want to get into the long list of set-aside enhancements that use "turn" instead of "round"....

Needless to say I haven't ever seen anyone play the cards above as though turns is any different than rounds.

Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

That's what I thought. My main question is whether it deactivates during upkeep or prep.

It sounds like an ability that gets checked during the upkeep step. Is this wrong?

I think turn is only different when used like "at the end of your turn".  Otherwise if it is used generically then I agree that it is interchangeable with round.

but when does the game check for the trigger of the "turn" on this card?

When a Lost Soul is placed in this Site, you may activate a Curse here for one turn.

In regards to the OP's question, I would think it acts like a normal artifact and stays til your next prep. INE, though, so I could be wrong.

Other question: Where can I activate a Curse onto Chorazin from if I place a LS in it other than my prep phase?

Exactly.  Anything that is counting turns really means rounds.  Other mention of turn (I can't think of any other than "end of turn") really means turn.

As far as Upkeep or Prep phase, it would be prep phase.  It activates as an artifact and lasts for an artifact's normal duration (i.e. one turn).  The artifact's normal duration ends during Prep phase.  "For one turn" is on the card only to clarify that the activation isn't a permanent activation.

Hey,

Other question: Where can I activate a Curse onto Chorazin from if I place a LS in it other than my prep phase?

From hand or Artifact pile.  (It actually doesn't matter what phase you do it during.  It's "from hand or artifact pile" during any phase.)

I put a lost soul in Chorazin, then pop up a curse.
Say 2 turns later I draw the Matt 8:34 LS and I remove the LS from Chorazin then put it back. Now I can pop up a curse there again, correct?
Thanks! :)
