Throne double trigger?

I still haven't heard anything about TToD retrigger if a character is added to battle using Unknown Nation or Gates of Hell?

Basically situation is as follows:
-King David makes a rescue opponent blocks with Foulr spirit.
- KD plays A card to get rid of Foul Spirit
- opponent discards gates of hell to add a character to battle.
- does TToD retrigger?

No.

Hey,

The Throne of David can only triggered when the initial blocker is presented.  ("blocked" has multiple possible definitions, the presentation of the initial blocker is the definition being used here.)  It's been ruled that way pretty much since it came out.  It would probably be a good idea to give it play as that clarifies that point.

In the Seven Wicked Spirits example, The Throne of David is triggered when Seven Wicked Spirits enters battle, before Seven Wicked Spirits takes effect.  So both the triggered effect of The Throne of David and the ability of Seven Wicked Spirits are "queued" to take effect at that point.  An activating ability always takes precedent over a triggered ability so Seven Wicked Spirits happens first (we all know that much).  When Seven Wicked Spirits interrupts The Throne of David it's waiting to be carried out, so after the new blocking character's ability takes effect and the interrupt ends The Throne of David is reinstated, still waiting to be carried out.  At that point all other abilities are complete, so The Throne of David's triggered ability finally gets to take effect.  Since there's a state-based condition attached to the event based trigger, you have to make sure that at this point the state-based condition is satisfied (i.e. there is no evil character in battle with a weapon) and if it is, the draw and play happens.

So the interrupt on Seven Wicked Spirits does not hinder The Throne of David's ability to function.

Also on a side note, The Throne of David does kick in in response to an Uzzah block.  The trigger goes off when Uzzah enters battle, he discards himself, The Throne of David takes effect, and since there is no Evil Character in battle, there obviously isn't an evil character with a weapon, so the draw and play happens.

The REG does not reflect the idea that there are multiple definitions of "block".

Quote
Blocking is the attempt to prevent a rescue. Only Evil Characters may block. Whenever an Evil  Character enters the Field of Battle against a Hero (regardless of what point the battle is), that is considered a block.

A quote from Tim with zero Elder support does not a convincing ruling make, particularly when it's contrary to what the REG says. Why do we even have a REG if it can be overridden at any point and nobody bothers to make sure the information is accurate?

Considering Tim wrote most of the REG, I'm sure there's an explanation.

I think we would agree that Throne doesn't trigger each time a banded EC blocks (i.e. you block with 5 Panic Demons, I don't get to draw/play 5 times). I believe the Unknown Nation/Gates of Hell idea is the same principle.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Except that your panic demon band (or any other) could be construed as a "single" block as they are all entering the fight at the "same" time where as an UN/GoH block comes as a completely separate block later in the battle.

Just food for thought.
Just one more thing...

It would seem that Redemption would have this kind of thing figured out by now. Every since Thorn in the Flesh was created...
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

Based on the definition of block, I'm pretty sure that each character in a banding chain is considered to be a block. Nothing in this game happens at the "same time," with the possible exception of SoG / NJ.

I agree that the current definition is problematic.  The issue is that any definition change would require us to look at EVERY card with "block" "blocks" "is blocked" "is blocking" "blocking" (or any other variation I can't think of) and find one that meets ALL of those situations.

I would do this, but sadly this is my 1 hour of online time where I can check the boards in this stretch of a few days.  If this isn't done by the time I have access and time again (Sunday?), I will try to put something together.
