Title: Three-line Lost Souls Card
Post by: GraftedIn on February 26, 2011, 09:48:57 PM
How does the three-line Lost Souls card work in a multi-player game? I think it would be as follows:

Player 1 rescues for his first time - he is halfway there.
Player 2 rescues for his first time - he is also halfway there.
Player 1 rescues for the second time - now he wins the double lost soul.

Is that right, or does the sequence get reset at some point?

3-Liner LS can only be rescued by one person, so if first person rescues half then that person is the only one with access to that LS.

Though in the case of the two-liner, player two would make the second rescue, and both 1 and 2 would get a redeemed soul.

However, this will not count to your total, since no player rescued it twice. It just sits in your territory.

Actually, I think this guy is on to something. According to the REG, the definition of rescued is if it's in the Land of Redemption.

Quote from: REG
Rescue
This action frees a Lost Soul being held prisoner in theLand of Bondage. A Lost Soul becomes rescued when it is placed in the Land of Redemption. All rescued Lost Souls are taken to the Land of Redemption.

If this is the case, I think I would agree with him.

This situation occurred at Nats, and the guy just gave one guy the card and the other the sleeve it was in.

Incorrect. The 2 Liner is considered to be in both Lands of Redemption even though there is just one physical card. Remember, this is a card game...not a scientific experiment.  :P

After it is rescued once by a player, it remains in the Land of Bondage and is protected from rescue, except by the same player. On the second rescue, this card goes to the Land of Redemption.

Based on the Play-as, I think the definition for rescue needs to changed. Since "rescued" means hits the land of redemption, and it never hits the land of redemption, it is never rescued.

The three liner's wording simply needs to be altered.

"In order to rescue the 3 liner, 2 successful rescues must be completed with the 3 liner as the target for rescue. After the 3 liner is succesfully targeted for rescue the second time, the 3 liner goes to the successful player's land of redemption and counts as 2 lost souls rescued."

Or something.

Perhaps. You can't say rescue though. "To rescue the 3 liner, 2 successful rescue attempts..."

Until that time, I will essentially have 6 lost souls in my deck, as the 3 liner can't ever be rescued. Combine that with Soggy, NJ, and Burial, and they can only rescue 3, and the others are easy to get rid of. Just put the Far Country in battle. :-*

But it doesn't count as a Redeemed Soul because neither player rescued it twice...?

Two liner says that it has to be rescued twice. It was rescued twice. Once by one player, once by another.

Right, so it's split between the two and doesn't count towards the total Redeemed Souls? That's what I said earlier, and Guardian said I was wrong...

Each of the two players Ring Wraith mentioned will add one to their total score.

That is correct. Both of you rescued it once, it has been rescued twice, it can now go into land of redemption. You have to split it though, thus you both get one.

You have to split it though
This is where Haman's Gallows comes in handy.

So it does count towards the Redeemed Soul total? As in, if I have 4 Redeemed Souls and it's been rescued once by my opponent and I rescue it, I win the game?

As long as your opponent isn't also at 4.  If s/he is, I'd get some aspirin for your host.
