I have 140 card deck without ls, I think I need 21? And can add 1 card?

140 - 91 = 49

49 / 6 = 8 (1)

Cards w/o LS 91 49
LS Required = 14 + (8 + 1) ==> 23

If you could squeeze down to 139 you would only require 22 LS. As it is, you may bump up to 145 without requiring a 24th LS.

Verify: 139 + 22 = 161 = 23 * 7

Not quite. 140 non-LS cards + 21 LS's is 161 cards. With 161 you need 22 LS. If you add one LS, you'll be at 162, and will need 23 LS.

So....

You could have 140 (or up to 145) non-LS cards and 23 LSs

or

You could have 139 non-LS cards and 22 LSs

Actually, this is how I usually figure out if kids with big decks have added the correct number of LS. 'll start with a decent base size (i.e., one that I know the answer for sure such as 87 ls for 56 cards). Then I create two stacks one of additional LSs and one with the remaining cards. Then I count 1-2-3-4-5-6-LS, 1-2-3-4-5-6-LS, and so on.

So the math I used above is just how I would write this process down.

Aren't you you required to use a hopper in any deck with less than 70 cards?

I can't remember the last time I played a 50-some card deck without a hopper. Heck, I can't even remember the last time I played a 50-some card deck.

True that. The fact that my deck is illegal is pretty much the best thing it has going for it.

Just to warn you all, never play MJB when he uses his son Caleb's deck. It only had five or six lost souls when I played it. Just goes to show he really can't count.
