can my opponent discard Pagan Sac if it's in they're territory? I would think they could... but it's worth a shot
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Red/Yellow • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set aside a Hero. Each upkeep phase while set aside, each player with more than one evil brigade in territory must discard an evil card in his territory.
also, do curses count for brigades?
-
Yes, and yes.
-
I confirm both affirmatives.
-
A much as I hate to do it i'm going to disagree with Gabe,
Curse's are defined as either and enhancement or an artifact when you play them - we've gone over that in countless threads.
Artifacts do not have a brigade color, thus I would argue that If a curse is being played as an artifact it has no color either.
but thats just my 2 cents I'm probably wrong.
-
It's been ruled that curses used as artifacts are still curses, and so still have a brigade color. Part of the rationale is the card Covenant Breakers, which refers to covenants having brigades, even if used as artifacts.
-
So if they're still curses I can't DON, LUG, or affect them with any other traditional card wouldn't you agree?

No. ;D
If it's on the Artifact pile it's being used as an Artifact so it can be targeted as an Artifact. But it still doesn't lose it's brigade color.
I tried to apply this same logic to characters being held captive (as a Lost Soul) once and found out that doesn't work. For some reason characters don't retain a brigade color when they're treated as a Lost Soul (the reason I was give is that Lost Souls don't have a brigade) but Curses and Covenants do.
Imo, that's inconsistent but that's how it's done for now.

Hmm. It seems like we could print a card that says "Return all captured white brigade heroes to owner's territory." and it should work.
Maybe we should revisit that.
But for certain, a covenant is ALWAYS a covenant, and sometimes either an enhancement or artifact IN ADDITION to covenant.

Lost Souls are not at the same time characters. Curses as Artifacts are at the same time Curses.

I agree completely. They're not characters. They're captured characters and need to be treated differently.
I don't agree that they should no longer have a brigade(s). We allow captured characters to keep their identifiers (high priest, egyptian, etc). I've had it ruled on this forum that I can still use my captured high priest (provided he's in my LoB) to meet the requirement for U&T. Based on that I also assume that Given Over to Egypt will still work when the only Egyptian in play is in a land of bondage.
As an added bonus, allowing captured characters to retain their brigade(s) it would be it easier to block against The Garden Tomb after they captured most of your defense with Women as Snares.

I agree with Gabe (and Bryon and Stephen), and I like the examples Gabe has mentioned on why it matters. :)
-
Great points, Schaef and Gabe. I agree with Schaef, and with Gabe's reason for why they can still have a brigade regardless of the truth of Schaef's point.
-
I agree with Bryon's agreement of Gabe's reasoning, regardless of the truth of Schaef's point, in spite of Red Dragon Thorn's disagreement, in light of Saruman's confusion and identity crisis, notwithstanding the difficullty of spelling Tim's last name.

+1
I am but a simple man. :)

Holy macaroni, that's the statement of the week. Maybe even the whole month!
