"Reset"

Ok, I'm very confused by "reset".  Here is all that appears in the REG when a search is done for "reset":

  • Characters placed in a Land of Redemption reset to face value. [ link ]
  • A "per game" ability applies to all copies of the card and is not reset (e.g., return to pile). [ link ]
  • "A "remainder of the game" ability is a gained ongoing ability.  It targets cards in play, which gain that ability while they remain in play or set aside.  The “remainder of game” ability can be reset (e.g., return to pile). [ link ]
  • "Covenant cards or curse cards played as enhancements in battle may be returned to your hand, at which time they reset to face value.  They may then be played as artifacts or as enhancements in subsequent uses. [ link ]

Does a card get "reset" when it:
- Goes to hand [yes, above]
- Goes to draw pile [yes, above]
- Goes to Land of Redemption [yes, above]
- Goes to discard?  [SirNobody says yes]

What happens at a reset?
- Card reverts to face value? [yes, above]
- Gained abilities are lost? [yes, above]
- Limits on per card abilities are reset? [yes, above]
- Limits on per game abilities are reset? [no, above] <- example of something not reset that the game simply 'remembers'
- A card's state of being (ie, was set aside, was discarded by an opponent, made rescue) is reset?

- Goes to discard?  [Yes]
[..]
- A card's state of being [Yes]

Then how does Angel at the Tomb work?  Wouldn't SoG's "without making a rescue" status be reset in the discard?

Angel at the Tomb: "If your Son of God card was discarded without making a rescue, shuffle it into draw pile. Cannot be negated."

States don't have to reset.  They change.  If a card is no longer in the discard pile, it's no longer discarded.

Why can't we just do what the card says?

Hey,

Why can't we just do what the card says?

Because we disagree on what the card says.

Hey,

Characters placed in a Land of Redemption reset to face value. [ link ]

Does that one seem iffy to anyone else?

States don't have to reset.  They change.  If a card is no longer in the discard pile, it's no longer discarded.

Discarded/In the discard pile, is a state, "discarded from draw pile by an opponent" is an event.

Why is that an event, but "discarded without being used" not an event?
