"put in play" question

If i play isaiah's call in battle, it says to put isaiah in play. Does this default to i can choose to put him in my territory or in battle? or just in my territory?

You have to put him into territory.  If you have not attacked yet, then you can put him in battle afterwards.  But, if you have attacked, you don't just get to start another battle because you have a new hero added to territory.
