Title: The Disciple Killer...
Post by: Cpt.Jaeger on March 09, 2011, 12:03:05 AM
not really, just a strategy idea that I hope works...

Player 1:
has 5 disciples in play and starts a rescue with James, Son of Alphaeus (Di) banded to Thadd.

Player 2:
Blocks with Simon the Magic Man.

Player 2:
Plays Babel (CBN) and brings in Fallen Warrior (ki) and Goliath (p)

Player 1:
Heroes withdraw, presents new hero- Mary Mother of James.
Plays Scarlet Line on Mary.

Player 1 makes a successful rescue...

Right?

Question: Does Fallen Warrior gain the */* of the 2 disciples?

He did not sucessfuly block them because the opponent won the battle.

So if player 2 played devourer and it ended there, he would?

I would say no because they werent in battle at the time it ended and so he did not defeat them.

Based on the Potiphar's Wife vs. CtR/Withdraw ruling, I would assume that Fallen Warrior does not "defeat" the 2 disciples and, thus, doesn't gain their abilities.

I would say that FW doesn't gain the numbers primarily because James is negating FW's ability.

But in order to successfully block a Hero, you must stop the rescue from happening. That didn't happen, so no gain even if the gain wasn't negated.

So if FW's ability wasn't negated (for example- holy of holies)....
And if devourer negated the scarlet line and the rescue was NOT successful...

then would FW gain the abilities?

I would think so.  I can't wait for the fun of Goliath.

Yes.

Neither can I. I just hope I can convince my wife to travel with me to Regionals and play in a category with my borrowed cards so that I can get two of him...
