I'm wondering, was there ever an explanation of why Thaddeus protects cards from enhancements played on evil characters? Suppose Thad+11 attacks, I block with Wandering Spirit. I can understand my deck being protected against WS's reveal ability, and that I can't band to a generic demon because they are all protected from WS, but why would Thad be protected from me playing Corrupted or Sinning Hand or some other battle-winner in battle? I've only ever seen Protects protect from special abilities on the cards they target (in Thad's case, ECs with certain defense). It seems that if Thad protects against the enhancements played on them as well, then his Protect is more like Immunity (which there should be a clear distinction between).
I've always read Protect abilities as having three parts: giving a subset of cards to be protected, a subset of cards to be protected from, and giving a subset of special abilities to be protected from. In Thad's case, enhancements are not in the subset of cards to be protected from.
Thaddeus (Di)
Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 8 / 8 • Class: None • Special Ability: Protect all cards in play, set-aside area, Artifact piles, hands, and decks from Evil Characters with toughness X or less. Cannot be interrupted.
Wandering Spirit (TP)
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Orange • Ability: 3 / 4 • Class: None • Special Ability: Reveal the bottom card of deck. If it is a demon, put it in your territory. May band to a generic demon. If your demon is discarded, place it beneath deck instead. Cannot be negated.
Random question that arose from my example: During a Thadd+11/WS battle, would discarded demons return to territory? Thadd protects the demons from WS's ability, but his ability is an Instead ability, and you can Instead CBN cards (Zeal + Herod's Temple). Can you Instead Protection?
