So I have another little question.
The Rulebook says that you are limited to activating one Artifact during your Preparation Phase. Does that also restrict Temple/Tabernacle Artifacts activated on Temples/Tabernacles?
For example, can I activate both a King's Sword in my Artifact pile and my Altar of Incense in my Solomon's Temple during the same Preparation Phase?
I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with that, but, you know, better safe than sorry.

I am not too sure but I think you can activate one artifact in your temple (which stays active) and the your next turn activate another on your pile
-
You may activate one (temple) artifact in your temple and one (any) in your pile.
Arrthoa, I think you're remembering Priestly Breastplate. Since that says in the ability that you may activate it on a priest, it eats up your artifact slot for that turn. However, you can leave it on the priest. Something like Magic Charms, where the "may activate on a magician" is in the identifier (which is always active), it does not eat up the slot and you may activate it and an artifact in your pile.
-
The "one per turn" limit is strictly for your Artifact Pile. Any Artifacts you have with a "May be activated on...." identifier, as well as any fortresses or other cards that have a "Holds...." identifier are each separate activations and can be done once each in addition to the Artifact Pile activation.

This. If you wanted to activate an artifact on your pile, activate Charms on your magician, put Unholy Writ in High Priest's Palace, and put an artifact in a Temple, all in the same turn, you're allowed to do that.

Thanks for clearing that up, everybody!

Agreed, but it is worthy to note (as Thomas of Hunter mentioned) that Priestly Breastplate does not follow this general rule because of its wording. It actually eats up your activation every turn, because you can only place it on a priest upon activation.
Priestly Breastplate (Pi)
Type: Artifact • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate all ignore and repel abilities on Characters and Enhancements. May be placed on a good High Priest when activated.

Is this really true? The artifact needs to be activated on your Artifact Pile, but once it is placed, it no longer is associated with the Artifact Pile. Placing is an instant ability.
If Redoubter is correct, can we have an Elder confirmation?

The reasoning is that artifacts must be activated each turn, even if they were activated previously. It is an instant, but it happens each turn during the "Artifact" phase. The way it is worded, each time it is 'activated' (which would be from artifact pile), you may place it on a priest.
At least that is how the ruling apparently went, but since we still can't search the forums, I'll wait for an Elder to come along to clear this up :)
For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of this ruling ;)
-
Breastplate was another example of bad wording overriding intent. They wont change the ruling as that would cause problems with other cards and they wont errata the card because "it's not breaking the game so it's not a problem". It's just one of those things that we have had to live with.
-
It actually doesn't change what I said since I specifically mentioned identifiers. ;)

Redoubter is correct. Each round an artifact has to be activated by an activate an artifact ability or be the one artifact activated on the artifact pile allowed by game rule if it is to remain active. Since Priestly Breastplate does not have an activate an artifact ability, it uses the game rule activation for any round you keep it active.

Thank you for the confirmation and clarification. I would say that I learn something new every day, but with my limited brain capacity, that goes without saying. ;)

Personally, I think it's still because of a mess up that Breastplate is like that.

Agreed, but this is yet another example of cards that have wording that go against what was intended. It won't receive an errata (because this issue has been known for a long time, and it isn't breaking the game), and the only real way that it will change is with a reprint.
-
I agree, so in the end it's all because of a simple mess up. I think it was because it was meant to be an identifier, but it doesn't matter now anyway.
