Imitate Lost Soul

The III John 11 Lost Soul from Revelation of John reads:

"Each Upkeep, you may copy the special ability of another N.T. Lost Soul for one round. (Activate the special ability as though you just drew the card.)"

First of all, I am going to assume that "another N.T. Lost Soul" does indeed default to in play.
Secondly, how would this work if you chose to copy the Matthew 19:26 Lost Soul from Angel Wars, i.e. First Round?

First Round- During the first round this card is in play, it is protected from rescue except by a Dominant or an Angel.

Certainly you could copy that ability for the first round that Imitate was in play, but what about the next round? Imitate would technically have been in play for a round already, but are you supposed to treat it as if you had just drawn it and it entered play again?

The default target for special abilities is in play.

Each time "Imitate" copies a LS it is treated as if you just drew it and put it in play. If you copy the LS mentioned above the protection kicks in as though it is the first round.
