Title: TEC Noblewoman
Post by: Deck Metrics on March 11, 2015, 09:31:33 AM
Is Noblewoman a cost/benefit ability? Not sure I still completely understand cost/benefit abilities yet anyways. But say my opponent only has 2 evil cards in their discard pile. Would I be able to reveal the top X (and say x=3 in this example) or 3 cards and underdeck the evil cards or would I only be able to reveal 2 cards because my opponent only has 2 evil cards in their discard pile?

Noblewoman - Remove up to X evil cards in opponent's discard pile from the game to reveal the top X cards of opponent's deck; put Lost Souls in play and underdeck the rest.

X = # of your Thessalonica Heroes

I tried explaining that it says "up to X" which is may not always be the case, but doesn't effect the mechanic.

You would be able to reveal 3. X is the number of Thessalonica heroes, not the number of cards you remove from the game.

It's actually interesting that it's written as a cost/benefit ability, but there should be nothing stopping you from removing 0 cards from opponent's discard pile then revealing X cards from opponent's deck.

ChristianSoldier is correct. Since Noblewomen says "up to X" you can remove and number from 0 to 3 from the discard pile to meet the "cost" and do the reveal.
