Every Man's Sword

I play Every Man's Sword on my WC EC.  My opponent converts that EC with Holy Grail.  If I attack with the converted EC holding Every Man's Sword, can I discard a multicolor hero in my opponent's territory?

Every Man's Sword - "You may discard a multi-brigade good or evil card."
If creation sings Your praises so will I
If You gave Your life to love them so will I

No, Evil SAs that specifically target good cards do not convert.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Not according to the REG.

Quote from: REG
Special abilities on Evil Characters (and evil weapons) that have been converted to Heroes (and good weapons) may activate, except for special abilities that specifically target Heroes when the card is at face value.

EDIT: i.e. I agree with Pol (what?!? that never happens!).

Woah, actually I was slightly wrong. I always thought it was "good cards," but it's actually "Heroes," which means a lot of cards I didn't think converted actually do!

Ah, but EMS doesn't target a hero specifically at face value, but a multi colored good card. It DOES convert.
Just one more thing...

Ah, that's true. I misread EMS.

So, yes, you could discard a hero even if the weapon is converted to good.

Is there a reason it's only Heroes and not Good Cards?

Is there a reason it's only Heroes and not Good Cards?

It might go all the way back to the precedent set by the Warriors Gabriel being able to discard a Good Enhancement from opponent's deck.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Sounds bottom-up to me. Furthermore, Gabriel doesn't even target good cards specifically!

IIRC, the original rule was that a converted ability could not harm a Hero because we thought it still made sense for someone to be able to band Saph and Goliath if they both got converted to Heroes (as one example).

However, when harm was later defined as any ability that targets a character of opposite alignment (or when a character is targeted by a neutral card), then the harm rule no longer worked.

What we don't want is for ECs converted to Heroes and evil weapons converted to good weapons to be able to target other Heroes. Is that no longer feasible if we want the abilities of converted weapons to continue to work? Perhaps, and that warrants a discussion.

I actually think it should go the other way and have no special abilities that target good card categories (Hero, GE, Covenants, Good Forts, Good Dominants) may convert.
