"End the battle" and AotL

I attack with Moses (CoW), my opponent defends with Egyptian Warden and plays Wonders Forgotten, which ends the battle CBN. At this point in time, in which the battle is being ended, I play AotL to discard the warden. Would the lost soul still be rescued?

in which the battle is being ended

There is no point in time during which the battle is "being ended" if an end the battle effect is involved. The battle is over the instant an end the battle effect is played. By the time you could play any card or activate any ability, even a dominant, the battle has finished resolving.

That's what I thought, just double checking.

Thanks.  :)

One thing to keep in mind is that you do get the first chance to play Angel of the Lord before your opponent plays Wonders Forgotten. He cannot block and immediately slap down an enhancement. There is always an "initiative check" to see who gets to play the first enhancement, but during this time you (as the player whose turn it is) are allowed to play a dominant (like Angel of the Lord).

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

You're right. I should've used AotL BEFORE my opponent played an EE. I was hoping he'd just play enhancements for numbers. I guess you can say, I had forgotten about Wonders Forgotten.  :)

It's a tricky spot...I know players will sometimes block (even without enhancements in hand) just because they suspect their opponent has AotL and they want to make him think he has to use it right there.

How do I know this? I'm one of those players...  ;D

Bottom line, if you're always playing Angel of the Lord at the first chance you get, you're probably playing too aggressively. That can easily come back and haunt you later on when your opponent drops a massively annoying Evil Character that you can't get rid of...

What happens with characters after an "end the battle" card is played?

Do some of the characters still die (if their numbers are lower)?

Or, does everyone survive?

Thanks

An end a battle card moves you into resolving the battle. No one can play any more cards it just ends, basically you have to play by numbers at that point.

REG

End the Battle General Description
An end the battle ability ends the battle part of the battle phase and begins battle resolution.

How to Play
When an end the battle ability is used, instead of following the normal process for determining when battle resolution should begin, the special ability causes it to begin immediately.

An end the battle ability has no target.  All end the battle abilities are instantaneous.

Special Conditions
● If there are pending abilities when an end the battle ability occurs, the pending abilities never take effect.

Clarifications
● All end the battle abilities effectively have “cannot be interrupted” status because the ability is used in the battle phase and causes the battle phase to end, and abilities that complete in one phase can only be interrupted or negated during the phase in which they are used.

So, Jeremy,

It would seem that whichever character has the lower numbers (when End of Battle occurs) will die, right?

Thanks,

E
