May i place Magic Charms on my partner's magician if I activate it?
You can activate Magic Charms on your teammate's Magician. That is the purpose of the following from the team play rules:

"your" means that the card is owned by you or your teammate, and controlled by you or your teammate.

"opponent's" and "opponents'" and "opponent" all mean either player on opposing TEAM.

Since Magic Charms says "May be activated on your Magician", in teams it means the Magician must be owned and controlled by you or your teammate.

Artifact piles are not shared though.  Therefore, whichever teammate had Magic Charms in their artifact pile would have to be the teammate who actually puts it on the magician (either theirs or their teammates).

Once it is on the Magician, then the question becomes who can then choose to discard it.  Since characters are not shared, I think that only the teammate who owned the magician could discard it (unless the other teammate banded it into battle or something).

I would think, since artifacts aren't shared inherently, whomever owns the artifact and put it on a magician would keep control of its effect and would choose when to use it, not necessarily the owner of the evil character (unless they're the same person).

Well, the way I see it is this: It was stated earlier that artifacts aren't shared in teams games. As such, I would interpret the "You" in "You may discard this card" to mean the owner who originally activated the artifact. However, I could be wrong, since "your" is treated as you or your teammate and "you" could just as easily also refer to you or your teammate.

Honestly, I could logically understand either of these rulings:
1. The player that activates and places the artifact can use the effect.
2. Either teammate can use the effect.

Honestly in teams it really doesn't matter who gets to activate it because you both would just talk about when to use it so i don't think that the activation part matters. But I am happy that you can use mc on your partners magicians. SWEET!!!

I guess I see it like a temple.  Arts are not shared.  However fortresses are.  Therefore, I can activate an art in my pile and put it in a temple and another in my art pile.  Then on my teammates turn they may deactivate that art in the temple (but not the one in my art pile).  Because it is in a shared fortress, they gain "control" over that art in the temple.

If I activate an art on their character, then when it is their turn, they control that character and therefore gain "control" over that art as well.  When it is my turn again, I don't control that character (unless I band it into battle), and therefore, I wouldn't "control" that art either.

What do you think?

Are we ever going to get a list of set rules for this??? Even if it was a basic outline, I think it would be nice.
Gates of Hell is by far the best card in the game.  No questions asked.

There already is.  It can be found here.

It has also been posted (and stickied) on the forum here.

I think it should be like this. If you put it on your partner's magician, then you can pick when to use it on your turn but can't bring the character into battle. But if it is your partner's turn he can bring it into battle and use the effect. But either way is fine with me.

I don't think you CAN put it on a partner's magician... you don't share fortresses OR characters... that just doesn't make sense.

But you can put it on your own then "pass" it through kingdoms of this world.  :D

The team play rules indicate that "your" in a special abilty means "the card is owned by you OR your teammate, and controlled by you OR your teammate." So, for example, you can't begin a rescue with your partner's character because characters are not shared; but if you use a special ability that says "you may band in all of YOUR characters from territory", you may band in your partner's characters as well because of the team play rule regarding "your".

That's the same reason that you can activate Magic Charms on your partner's characters, the attribute says "May be activated on YOUR magician." Your magician is a magician that "is owned by you OR your teammate, and controlled by you OR your teammate."

The above are not equal (unless I'm mistaken).

But on the official rules page it states:

Quote
Definitions: "your" means that the card is owned by you or your teammate, and controlled by you or your teammate. "opponent's" and "opponents'" and "opponent" all mean either player on opposing TEAM.

By this definition, I could put my magic charms on my partner's magician

My mention of "special ability" is not specifically in the rules, the rules regarding "your" apply to the whole card including the attributes.

I found this part of the Teams rules to be rather confusing.  How does it apply to these situations:

1 - My partner rescues with Chariot of Fire active.  Do my Heroes shuffle back into my deck too?

2 - A player from Team A rescues with Simeon.  Do both opponents on Team B discard for Simeon's ability?

3 - If one team member plays Holy Unto the Lord do both members of that team have to reveal their hand and discard the evil cards?

There were a lot of situations like these that came up during our teams game tonight but I think the answers to these should cover all the different scenerios.

Thanks,

Gabe

1. Since Chariot of Fire shuffles Heroes in a singular "Your" discard pile and "Your" can mean you OR your teammate, then your teammate can choose to shuffle the heroes in your discard pile OR his discard pile (and since you can talk openly, you can decide together which one to do).

2. Since opponent means EITHER player on opposing team, the person playing Simeon's special ability gets to pick which one of the two opponents has to discard a card.

3. Since Holy Unto the Lord says to reveal your hand (singular), your means you OR your teammate. The person playing the special ability gets to pick which hand is revealed (but again you get to openly talk about it, so it's a joint decision, but the person playing the special ability is the one who officially declares which one you are choosing).

+1 I am glad to see that both of the people who have run TEAMS at Nats for the last couple years seem to be on the same page regarding rulings.

That's awesome... holy unto the lord in an all defense and then you choose your opponent's hand who has almost all offense... very nice!  :o

Another Question: Since forts are shared, I'm assuming any time an artifact is in a fortress that artifact is also shared?

I'm surprised this hasn't come up. How does searching work? Can I play a card that says search YOUR draw pile to search my team-mate's draw pile? If I CAN, what about cards that simply say "search draw pile"? Is that assumed to read "search holder's draw pile" or "search YOUR draw pile"?

Since your opponent's draw pile is owned and controlled by either you or your teammate, then yes.

If I CAN, what about cards that simply say "search draw pile"? Is that assumed to read "search holder's draw pile"?
In this case it is missing the magic word "your", and therefore you are limited to only searching holder's draw pile.
