Title: TAS vs Blue Tassles
Post by: jbeers285 on February 08, 2013, 02:12:25 PM
Just transferring this conversation from the shout box.

Can TAS work with BT active?
In my understanding BT acts as a protection from capture and prevents Unholy Writ.

Original ruling from Gabe (in the shout box) is that TAS would not work with BT active. Not sure where The Gaurdian found it but he came across a similar ruling from Byron.

Redoubter and Drrek have both stated that TAS can not be protected from itself.

The original ruling on TaS vs. Blue Tassels was that TaS is a self capture card so it doesn't work. Last year we made the ruling that cards cannot be protected from themselves. One of the implications of that changes is that TaS does work now with Blue Tassels active. The ruling I made in the shout box was based on memory of the old ruling. I had overlooked the TaS was being protected from his own ability.

I agree with Gabe. The new paradigm of "a character cannot be protected from itself" changed the old ruling on TAS.

So TAS also works against Thaddeus now as well?

I believe he would be able to capture himself to create a LS, but he would not be able to search for another EC out of your deck. (If I'm understanding the rule correctly.)

Correct.
