Stalks of Flax and Set Asides

Stalks of Flax (roughly does something like this)

On Activation, exchange two O.T. human Heroes in your territory with two Heroes in an opponent's territory until your next upkeep phase. Discard after use.

Two Possessed by Demons

Set any 2 humans aside until Son of God is played.

I think you can see where this is going.
I exchange for 2 and then play Two Possessed by Demons on my newly exchanged characters (this is now a legal target correct?). These characters are set aside till SoG is played. So what happens after my next upkeep (or 2 turns I think is the actual card). Do my heroes come back and their's stay set aside? Do they return from set aside?
If they really want them back are they willing to pop their own Darius's Decree and Chariot of Fire them?

I'm assuming after son of god is played the characters would return to your opponent, but yours would come back after two turns (I think the duration was changed to that)

I want to know what happens after 2 turns when SoG isn't played.

Here are some interesting things on the REG:

The only way to target an exchanged card out of play is if you negate the card with the exchange ability.

The duration of an exchange of cards is permanent unless stated otherwise.

I actually don't think the exchanged guys are legal targets, due to this REG quote:

Quote from: REG>Instant Abilities>Set-Aside>How to Use
Played Outside Battle

A set-aside enhancement may be played on a character in your territory, provided the enhancement is played on your turn and it is not played during the Battle Phase, and targets your own character (i.e, it sets your own character aside).

Since you don't own the exchanged-for guys, I don't think you can set them aside outside of battle.

However, if on your block you set them aside with TPBD (since they are legal targets for it when played in battle) I would assume they would stay set aside until SoG is played. If it's played within the next two turns, you keep them for the remaining time. If it's played after two turns, your opponent gets them back (and after two turns, I think they would technically be transferred to your opponent's set-aside area). Regardless of ow long they are set-aside, you get your heroes back after two turns.

I am obviously not official, but this way makes the most sense to me.

The professor raises an interesting point.

If we stipulate for the sake of argument that your set aside play was legal, the characters would remain set-aside until the condition (SoG played) to return them to territory was met.  They would then immediately go back to the opponent.  At least, that's how I understand it based on the way similar scenarios are resolved.
