Potiphar's Wife (Wo)

Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Gold • Ability: 2 / 2 • Class: None • Special Ability: When character defeats a male Hero in the Field of Battle, the Hero is taken prisoner and placed in your opponent's Land of Bondage and treated as a Lost Soul. • Play As: If male Heroes are defeated by a win or stalemate by Potiphar's wife, capture and place them in opponent's land of bondage instead. • Identifiers: OT Female Human, Egypt • Verse: Genesis 39:9 • Availability: Women booster packs (Uncommon)


To kill them with the decrease, does Potiphar's Wife's Ability work? She was the key to Zimri's ability.

I don't think so. While I do believe that Potiphar's Wife's ability should be active when the decrease (and thus defeat) occurs, it was Zimri's ability that did the discarding (and thus defeating). Since the Hero didn't technically lose by the numbers to both Zimri and PW, but rather by the decrease from just Zimri, it would be similar to Zimri playing Haman's Plot to discard the Hero; PW shouldn't get credit for that either.

Wait a tic.  When a hero loses in battle, aren't all the evil characters that are still in battle considered to be defeating the hero?

Only when it would favor your opponent STAMP.

Seriously though, as far as I know, that is only true when the Hero loses BTN. If I use CM on your Hero that I blocked with PW, I'm fairly certain that she doesn't get credit. I know that used to be the ruling at least, perhaps it has changed.

I treat this as a given for any ruling question on which I respond.  In fact, we could just add it to the REG to avoid any confusion in the future.

Well, it's not clear how it should be ruled based on the defintions of "defeat" and "battle resolution" in the new REG.

  I have an Essau ( brown, band to earthly battle dude) to Potiphar ( equipped with Egyptian 2k horses) to PW end battle with brown battle ender.  That I have always thought kicks in her ability.  I get double the pleasure because I also roll with the gold battle ender.

Normally, an end the battle ability would allow her ability to work, if it had already been activated. However, in this case, Horses comes before banding, so PW wouldn't be able to come in until Horses activated and battle ender had been played, meaning that PW could never be banded in. If you blocked a Hero with say Unclean Spirit and PW, and when it was your initiative played Gibeonite Trickery (v.1), you win the battle by the numbers of US and PW, which means PW's ability would work.
