Title: Site Abilities
Post by: joezim007 on November 08, 2011, 04:42:24 PM
Gabe said in this thread (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/redemption-official-rules/rule-changesclarifications-for-2011-2012-tournament-season/):
Quote
Change to Single Color Sites
Special abilities on single color Sites are always active, while in territory and while in battle. Previously they were not considered active while in battle. This does not apply to Sites that have a conditional ability (ex: While occupied,...). Those are still only active while the condition is met.

And the REG says this:
Quote
The special ability on a single-colored site is active only while it is occupied

I'm guessing the ruling change was only to specify that the SA is now also active in battle, but not changing the fact that it still needs to be occupied to be active if in your territory, but I'm not sure. He did says "always active," but might have been an oversimplification. Can I get a clarification?

Where in the REG does it say that?

*Edit* - It's in the rulebook section of the REG, which probably hasn't been changed, so it matches the print version.

The rule (prior to Gabe's post) was that single-color sites were active while they were in territory, but not in battle.  Some tried to abuse that by putting their Nazareth into battle so they could search, which necessitated the change Gabe posted.

I think the change from "only active while occupied" to "active in territory" came about with Herod's Dungeon, which requires itself to be unoccupied to work.

"Abuse" is such a mean word Aggie, I prefer "constructively used". It allowed me to search (not that I really needed to with a Disciples deck as this year has taught me) and prevented those pesky prophets from finding all of their search cards AND stopped ANB against me...:P

I hope everyone realizes at this point that if you want to have the "brokenness" fixed for TGT, Disciples, Speed, or any meta, just simply include ANB as part of your combo.

:P

Ok, so single-color sites are literally always active then?

Yes, unless they're negated somehow.
