The Silver Trumpets (Pi)
Type: Artifact • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: When your Priest has initiative during a rescue attempt, you may band a human O.T. Hero from your territory into battle or interrupt the battle and return your Heroes in battle to hand. May be used twice. • Play As: When your Priest has initiative during a rescue attempt, you may band a human O.T. Hero from your territory or interrupt the battle, withdraw your Heroes, and return them to hand. May be used twice. • Identifiers: OT, Tabernacle Item, Temple Item • Verse: Numbers 10:2
Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Red • Ability: 4 / 5 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: Return an Evil Character to owner's hand. Protect your warrior class Heroes from capture. Cannot be negated if David is in play. • Identifiers: OT Male Human, Canaan, Fought Earthly Battle • Verse: I Samuel 26:6
1. I have a priest in battle and my opponent plays a card that kills me like head of gold. It is my initiative, so can I use Silver Trumpets to bring Ahimilek into battle and return the evil character?
2. If I can use silver trumpets would my first character still be captured or would the enhancement fizzle since the EC is no there anymore.
3. If it is an un-negatable enhancement they play does all of the above still work.

1. Yes
2. The hero is still captured since the enhancement was not interrupted.
3. Yes

YMT is incorrect. The answer to 1 and 3 is No. If you're losing by removal, you only have initiative to play an interrupt or negate, so you could not use Silver Trumpets to band at that time since the band does not include an interrupt or negate. You could use the ITB+withdraw to hand ability, though.

I guess I am misunderstanding how Silver Trumpets works. My impression was
not
that Silver Trumpets was allowing the priest to
play
an enhancement (which I agree he cannot play one), but rather that the enhancement was being played through the artifact (somewhat like Unknown Nation).

Silver Trumpets actually has nothing to do with playing anything. Simply put, the band ability does not interrupt, so by the time Head of Gold resolves the priest is captured and not in battle so you don't meet the requirement of Trumpets anymore (a priest with initiative).

Well that can't be true, otherwise the "interrupt and return" would not work. Silver Trumpets has an ongoing, triggered ability that triggers every time the priest has initiative. If you are losing by removal, then your priest has initiative (which triggers Silver Trumpets). An artifact can still activate in battle, even if the battle appears over (i.e. Unknown Nation).

Unknown Nation can add an EC to battle AFTER a removal resolves, yes, because it doesn't care about anything except that there's a hero in battle (which there is after the hero gets rid of the EC by removal). I'm saying that the band of Silver Trumpets cannot be used during special initiative because it doesn't interrupt, and then it misses the timing of its trigger after that because there is no longer a priest in battle with initiative.

I agree with YMT right now because the ability activates and you add your hero then the priest gets kicked out. That's how I see it.

You can't activate an ability in the middle of another ability without an interrupt. The band doesn't interrupt, so it can't be used until after the removal cards completes, at which point there's no Priest in battle to allow the use of Silver Trumpets.

But Silver trumpets says when you have initiative which you do. So the priest is still there and able to use enhancements or silver trumpets.

Yes the priest is there (until Head of Gold resolves), but what you're missing is that the only enhancements/abilities that you can use are interrupts and negates. Silver Trumpets' band is neither.

Browarod is correct. Aggie is correct as always. I know better than to contradict, Aggie.
The Silver Trumpets has two distinct options in it's ability.
#1 band - this only works during normal initiative, not during special initiative, because it does not negate or interrupt.
#2 interrupt and return to hand - works when you're losing by removal because it interrupts.
