What would happen if someone played The Second Seal during a heroes side-battle or if someone played Siege during an EC side-battle?

Heroes don't fight along side Evil Characters and vice versa. The mass banding would only happen for one side of the battle.

Music Maker, side battles are one of the best ways to do some major damage to an opponent while they have no power to do anything about it. They're very useful if done right.

Would it be safe to say that characters are restricted from being added to a side of a battle that has opposite-aligned characters?

I know, but I always thought it was best to do it with the least amount of enhancements?

Here's something for you to ponder:  How many good cards negate good cards, and how many evil cards negate evil cards?  You can usually get what you want done without any fuss in a side-battle, even the abilities that aren't CBN.  And they only get the opportunity to interrupt them in that side battle if it caused them to LOSE that side-battle.  Fun stuff.

Moses and emperor Nero both negate everything. Red dragon is the same way... I think John negates everything...

Either way though, if you want some stand alones; they don't even need to match the brigade you use, merely because you can't play anything with them. Red dragon doesn't necessarily need crimson, Nero doesn't necessarily need gray (evil), etc. they just need themselves.

This quote is almost entirely untrue. Nero is immune to lone heroes, and doesn't negate anything. Red Dragon is immune to human heroes, and doesn't negate anything. John only negates evil characters, except banding.

Moses is the only one that you are correct about.

But I thought there where some evil characters that negate everything??

There are. They are Sapphira, Job's Wife, Foul Spirit and King of Tyrus. Most of the time you would not want to choose any of those for your side battle though.

Here's an example of how one might effectively use a side battle. You rescue with a green Hero and play Sword of the Lord to create a battle between two Evil Characters. You choose Greek Philosophers and Goliath (L) to fight one another. You control the Philosophers. Since you're losing you have initiative. You play Abom which goes to your opponent's territory. You still have initiative and play Wrath of Satan to discard all Heroes. Now your opponent will not be able to negate the side battle because your Hero is dead. Since you still have initiative you could take out your opponent's entire defense by using Babel to band all their Evil Characters and your Women of Thebez or Philistine wearing Chariot and Horses, giving you a chance to play Joseph before Pharaoh and removing everyone from the game. Since your opponent isn't likely playing black they don't have any way to negate all of what you just did.

This is precisely why Pot O'Manna is the most awesome card in the game. Well that and the fact that you can discard Pot O'Manna with Uzzah to protect all Lost Souls from rescue.
