Side Battle Right Off The Bat

This came up with a game I was playing by myself (yea...).

I have Hidden Treasures active and I start a battle with a prophet.  I chose to play Vision.  I chose the two evil character who fight.  My question is, after the side battle is over, does he then chose who to block with or is he stuck with the winner of the side battle (even if the winner is my EC)?

Hidden Treasures

Type: Artifact • Brigade: • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Once per turn, if your lone green brigade prophet begins a battle, you may play an Enhancement or discard an evil Enhancement in an opponent's deck.

Visions

Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Green • Ability: 2 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: Select one of your Evil Characters to fight a blocking Evil Character. Prevent all special abilities on opponent’s Enhancements during that battle.

Visions probably doesn't work if there's not already an EC in the main battle.

True, so let's use Sword Of The Lord instead.

Any characters that survive the side battle return to where they were before the side battle.  So your opponent would get to choose who they block with.

But they could not re-enter the field of battle with either of the characters that were in the side battle, correct?

They can.  Only characters that leave the field of battle (ie, return to territory) cannot reenter battle.

Is that anytime they leave the field of battle, or when they use a withdraw ability?

The REG (which may be out of date) mentions that characters that withdraw from battle can't re-enter the same battle.  It also says characters that withdraw from battle can re-enter a different battle on the same turn, but that may be a typo.  Not sure what restrictions apply to characters who returned to territory because their battle ended.  Can you block a second RA (via The Long Day) with the same EC that blocked the first one?

I've simply heard people (inc. Bryon) say 'leave,' so it is possible it's really 'withdraw' and everyone just simplifies it.  'Withdraw' would make more sense, in my opinion, but I'll leave the question for the PTB to answer since they know which is correct.

I figure that it has to be okay for a character to enter two different battles on the same turn... otherwise, a card like Visions couldn't put the blocking EC into the side battle.

The restriction is on characters who withdraw.  I sometimes say "leave" but I mean the same thing.  I usually don't think of a character returning to territory AFTER a battle as leaving the battle.  But I see how you could get that idea.

All I know is that I see very little reason to play an offense other than Prophets right now. Side Battles are the thing that NOBODY is prepared for.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
