CWD is active
rescuer is in battle with Jair
Jair is blocked by Gomer to Prince of Persia
Jair plays sword against sword and causes Prince of Persia to fight Assyrian Archer in the side battle.
Assyrian Archer gets initiative and plays Death of Unrighteous
Does Prince of Persia get Si in the side battle?

The cards are pending discard so characters are opposed in battle and you can negate.

Thanks for the confirmation. RDT said approximately the same thing to me via FB.

Concur, you gain SI due to an effect that is removing the last character from a side of the battle, and if it is the current battle that character can play an enhancement to interrupt or negate the effect.
I feel like some people are confused about SI and Side Battles, and that it stems from the Real Rulings. Is there a question about how SI works with them? In the case indicated, there is nothing special that would preclude SI in that side battle.

Doesn't DoU discard all evil characters in battle? Would that be what gives PoP SI?

Right, it does because it is discarding Prince. I think I may be missing something you are trying to say, but that was what I was agreeing with, DoU grants Prince SI in the side battle.

thanks a lot for clarifying this!
