Shuffle your hand to... Wait, that was Grapes?

I played Grapes on a newer player in one of our tournaments.  Seeing a shiny dominant, she shuffled her hand into her deck, and then realized that it wasn't Mayhem.  How should I rule this?  I let her draw six.

Seeing as how it probably didn't really matter you made the right decision for that particular game. However, I don't think players should be rewarded for hastily doing the wrong thing. There have been plenty of times I'd have loved to shuffle my hand and D6 when Grapes was played.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

If I were the one playing against her, I would have asked her if she remembered what cards she had, and if she did let her go through her deck and pull them back out. If brought over and asked to rule as a judge on what would happen here, I would try to obtain consent from her opponent if possible. Since I have never had anyone say no to such a request, I wouldn't know where to go if her opponent said no.

I agree with pol. But if she couldn't remember what she had in her hand, I would have let her draw the same amount of cards that she had in her hand. It could fish out some ls's too XD

I think SomeKittens got what he deserved, and I hope she got SoG on the draw. Seriously, playing Grapes on a new player? It's heinous!

i believe the correct ruling would have been to have her rip all 6 cards in half, remove all pieces from the game, then remove a player from the game.

Uhh, thanks?  We host tournaments so that new players can get experience, learn the swiss system, and have fun.  The top players here handicap ourselves by trying out new decks.  The one I played with was built in a hour (defense was totally from scratch, and one I had never played before).  I placed 3/7 because I didn't use my top deck, so I hope you're happy that I "got what I deserved."

I forgot the   :o  or perhaps the  ;)  that would have made it more clear.

The good news is that he finished in three-sevenths place, which in my textbook puts him ahead of first place!  ;D
