If I have Thorn in the Flesh on a Hero in battle, and block w/ SWS, what happens first, the discard or the exchange?
SWS- "You may interrupt all Fortresses and exchange this Evil Character with any other Evil Character in play or set-aside area."
TitF- "Place this card on a Hero. It cannot be removed by a Healing card. Each time holder's demon blocks that Hero, holder discards a card at random from opponent's hand. • Play As: Place this card on selected Hero. Disease that Hero and protect Hero from healing. Each time holder’s demon blocks that Hero, discard a card at random from opponent’s hand."

And on a related note, has the mess with "blocks" and multiple characters been resolved yet? Meaning, if I block with two demons, do I discard one card or two?

I believe we have a consensus amongst the playtesters, just waiting on final confirmation from Rob.

I vote for the Warrior's Spear ruling :)
Did it enter battle? Yes. Was it negated? No. Then it works. SWS can't use its ability unless it enters battle and blocks, so I would say the condition for Thorn in the Flesh was met.

but this is a matter on when the trigger activates. after sws ability reolves and any other abilites after then trigger from thorn in the flesh

As the Guardian said, most of the elders that have been involved in that discussion believe that each demon would block, so discarding multiple cards is possible. I know that the exchange happens first, as TitF is triggered and triggered abilties happen after other EC abilities.
Based on our discussion, I would rule that you still get to discard, but like I said, our proposed definition of blocks has not yet been confirmed by Rob.
Another issue: I'm pretty sure the Play As on TitF is wrong, nothing on the card says the Hero is protected from Healing, just the enhancement (which in most cases doesn't matter anyway, unless a healing card has an extra ability of discarding evil enhancements). Interestingly, however, The New Covenant can't discard TitF from an NT Hero, since it is a Healing card. Funny how that works.

So if I block w/ SWS from my hand and exchange it w/ a SWS in my territory and repeat, can I discard the opponent's hand if TitF is on the Hero in battle? That would be nasty... 8)

The REG says that you can't exchange an exchange card with another exchange card, so I don't think you can exchange SWS for SWS. Even if you could exchange them for each other, you'd potentially run into other problems with the rule that characters can't re-enter a battle they've left (or whatever that rule is now).

you cant exchange great faith for great faith. In other games you could to create an infine loop aka engine but the rule in those games is that anytime you create an infinite loop like this you choose a number of how many times you do the loop. Believe me i do not want to be on the recieving end of a Thorn in the Flesh + SWS combo but from the looks of how they will soon rule TitF I probably will do it to someone else. :) Fun and Fellowship FTW!
