Yet another reason "add to battle" needs to never be a banding ability. Right now, Evil Spawn looks at the bottom of the deck, checks if it's an evil card, and if so adds to hand or battle. It's always a search ability, but right now it's also sometimes a banding ability and sometimes a play ability. Does Wool Fleece prevent his ability? How about The Darkness? Does it have a banding ability or not? Would Torn Mantle kill a Perpetual Priesthood in a Storehouse? Would Answer to Prayer be negated by HHI?
Some people would say that if HHI is up, Answer to Prayer can only search for an enhancement, but that's not how negation works. Negation either stops an ability or it doesn't; protect limits targets and restrict limits player action. If HHI is up and Answer to Prayer is played, it must either be allowed to work or prevented before it's SA activates, and once it does there is nothing in prevention that can stop it from getting a Hero. Does it then "become" a banding card after its SA has already completed?
Counting "add to battle" as "banding" makes for so many ridiculous situations I can't believe it's remained this long. Rather than defining "banding" as "any ability that causes multiple characters to be on the same side of the battle," just make it "one ability that can bring characters into battle" (exchange and add to battle being the two others). Yes, it has pretty far-reaching implications, but the way it is now doesn't actually work.
