Set asides?

I just found this in the online REG under Instant Abilities >> Set-Aside >> Special Conditions:

Two or more set-aside cards may not be played simultaneously unless specified otherwise.

Is this a new ruling? or am I misunderstanding it?  I had always thought that playing multiple set-asides at once on a character was allowed, as long as you had characters with the appropriate brigades in your territory that you could activate them on.

It is indeed a new ruling because the rulebook actually says the opposite.

It's not really "new"... the ruling was made at least a year or two ago at Nats, which was after the last printing of the rulebook.

Just out of curiosity, then, what prompted this ruling?  Was there some OP'd combo that resulted from multiple set-asides being played at once?  Or were there too many ruling conflicts that resulted from contrasting gained abilities?  Or something else?

Hey,

It was changed because of a discussion about New Jerusalem (dominant) and how Redemption handles cards serially rather than parallel-ly.  It was just an old rule that didn't work with the newer understanding of how cards function.
