Set Aside Question

I play Neby's Pride on Nergalsharezer (OT enhancements CBN) to set aside Nergalsharezer and the opponent's hero in battle. They then use one of the Priests set aside cards to set aside their humans for one turn. On my next turn I activate and discard Darius' Decree to discard all their heroes in set aside (presumably including the one set aside by Pride). Does that then cause my Nergalsharezer to be set aside indefinitely? Based on the New REG segment quoted from Gabe below, it seems like he would be stuck there since one of the cards targeted by Pride is no longer set aside.

Is this the case?

Relevant Card and Ruling Information:

Quote from: New REG
A set-aside ability is always followed by or paired with another ability that is not a set-aside ability but rather is a ongoing ability that lasts as long as all of the cards targeted by the set-aside ability remain set aside.

Nebuchadnezzar's Pride (RA)
Special Ability: Interrupt the battle and set aside all characters and Sites in battle for four turns.

Darius' Decree (TP)
Opponents may not play good Enhancements from hand, unless an Evil Character is in battle. You may discard this card to discard all Heroes in set-aside areas.

I agree, it seems like NurGargleMarbleShazam would be set aside until the inevitable ANB.

I don't see why, he is set aside for 4 turns. The Reg quote doesn't apply to the situation becasue it is talking about a set aside with another ability like standing in the gap.

It looks like that's a question we'll need to work out.  I didn't write the document that updates and explains our rules for set-aside abilities but I think this statement explains the intention behind it:

Quote from: New REG Set-Aside Special Conditions
If more than one card is set aside with a specified duration, can be prematurely returned, and if one of those cards is returned from the set-aside area prematurely, then the other card(s) set aside with it immediately return to their owner's territories with no further benefits gained.

This will need to be adjusted to include the possibility of characters leaving set-aside early for other reasons, like being discarded by Darius' Decree.  Based on what I believe to be the intension behind this statement I actually think that your Nergalsharezer would be returned to play early, not left in set-aside indefinitely.

However, currently, until that's ironed out, I would rule that he stays set-aside until the full duration is reached and returns as normal.  I don't find any statements pertaining to this in the current REG.

Another example of this that seems like it would be Holy OP Batman:

Type 2 -> Samaritan Water Jar x3 -> Darius' Decree to discard any/all heroes set aside -> all other cards from any set of 9 where a hero was discarded are now forever set aside.

Even 1 Jar in Type 1 + DD seems like it would be crazy.
