So I had an interesting battle today. Peter and Cornelius banded in battle and I defended with the multi - colored EL self. Now Cornelius negated characters excepts Romans so I have two questions.
1. You can't negate a characters identifier, right? So, Self could copy Cornelius and be fine right?
2. Self was converted to a clay hero in the battle so does his abilities still stand?
-
1: yes. It's ability was changed to an identifier, so it would work regardless of Cornelius.
2: not sure what happens if self is converted, but I'd assume it would work the same, since it's not an ability

As kram stated, Self has no special ability.
A strength or toughness of “*” or “X” printed on a card is not an increase or decrease ability, but an identifier to define the default strength and/or toughness of a card (even if not printed as an identifier on the card). The strength or toughness in this case is dynamic and updates with the condition.
So everything printed on the card is "identifier," regardless of where it is, and all of that converts with him.

Could you choose any Hero in play including your own? or does it have to be a hero in battle?
-
The card specifies that it may be any of an opponent's hero. You select the hero when self is put in play.

Oh okay, I originally had Self in my deck to clone my Titus because he was Greek and I wanted to give myself another Greek EC for my defense.
