Non-Rescuer's Choice

Rescuer's Choice, as defined by REG:
Before a player begins a rescue attempt, he must announce which Lost Soul he is trying to rescue. That is the only Lost Soul he is eligible to rescue. If that particular Lost Soul is taken out of play prior to the end of the battle (by Burial, Son of God, or New Jerusalem), then the rescuer will not rescue a Lost Soul even if his forces win the battle.

If NOT playing with Rescuer's Choice, as long as there is a Lost Soul available and my "forces" win the battle, I am guaranteed a Soul unless conditions such as above happen, correct?
I'm sorry I crammed 11 cookies in the VCR.

My opponent/cousin was saying that since we weren't playing Rescuer's Choice, he got to choose what Soul I was going after, and I was pretty sure this wasn't correct.

Another question: Are occupied sites brought into battle when being rescued at like when you put an access site in the FOB?

Hey,

My opponent/cousin was saying that since we weren't playing Rescuer's Choice, he got to choose what Soul I was going after, and I was pretty sure this wasn't correct.

He does get to choose which lost soul you are going after.  But if that lost soul becomes unrescueable he must choose a different soul for you to go after.

Thanks, Sir Nobody. He was trying to do things like bring the Soul into battle because the site was being accessed and play things like Zelophedad's Sin to discard them, then say that I couldn't rescue any Soul since the one he made me target was not rescue-able anymore...  :-\
