Searching for a Lost Soul

If you search for a Lost Soul, do you draw a replacement card?

If it's the revealer, hopper, or site-remover, do their effects activate?

I believe the answer is 'no' to both questions, but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

First answer is no.

Second answer is yes and no. There is a difference between hopper/revealer and site-remover. Hopper and Revealer only work when drawn whereas the Site-remover works when it is placed in your Land of Bondage so the ability would activate if you search for it.

The key difference in the abilities, which answers both questions, is the phrase "when drawn" (or "when you draw") - these phrases require that you draw the card, not search for them. "Draw" is a SA and a game mechanic.

I am with you on the second part.  Their abilities activate depending on how they came into play, but are you sure on the first part?

I thought that as a game rule, everytime you took a LS from your deck you draw a replacement card.  It is possible that this does not kick in when y ou search for a LS but I have always seen it played that you draw a replacement from the top.

Most cards that search for a lost soul is an opponent's card.  If they "draw" a lost soul from your deck, then it wouldn't make since for them to "draw" another card.

I am talking about using search or False peace to search my own draw pile for a LS and then placing it in territory and immediatley drawing a replacement card from my own deck.  I have done that before.  especially searching for the Color guard LS.

From the rulebook (page 5):
Quote
Each time you draw a Lost Soul at any time in the game, it is immediately placed in your Land of Bondage and replaced by drawing another card.

From the REG (Search, etc. > Special Conditions):
Quote
A search card can be played to get a Lost Soul from your draw pile.  If this is done, you must put the Lost Soul in your Land of Bondage, then shuffle your deck.

Based on those quotes, I think you don't draw when you search your deck for a LS.

Correct, you only get a replacement card if you draw a lost soul.

Again, "draw" and "search" are different abilities. You only draw a replacement when you "draw" the LS. In the Search example, you did not "draw" it (based on game defintions, not dictionary definitions).
