Scroll of Isaiah vs. Chaldeans

I have Scroll of Isaiah active and my opponent blocks with Chaldeans. I have Isaiah in battle and Emperor Galba in my territory. Is that sufficient to protect Scroll from discard? I.e.: Since Scroll is from both testaments is it sufficient to have 1 character from each testament or must both characters match the same testament on Scroll?

Scroll of Isaiah - Acts 8:32 (Isaiah 53:7)

Chaldeans - "Negate and discard an Artifact unless it’s owner has at least two characters in play with the same testament as the Artifact."

I think that it has to be the actual testament that is in the reference. that is what I would assume.

Well, the card has both Acts and Isaiah references on it, and in another thread it was confirmed that it's both OT and NT.

I would think Chaldeans would blow it up if the condition isn't met for both references, in this case testaments.

That was my initial thought as well.

If that's the case, wouldn't you then need 2 characters that are also both OT and NT in order to prevent the discard (as opposed to 2 OT and 2 NT)? Chaldeans specifies "the same testament" (singular) which for all other cards in the game is either OT or NT, but for Scroll is BOTH OT and NT.

So I guess my deeper question is: does Scroll have 1 testament, "Old and New Testament", or does it have 2 testaments, "Old Testament" and "New Testament"? If the latter, why does Chaldeans' singular "the same testament" then refer to the plural testaments on Scroll?

Hey,

I would figure Scroll of Isaiah is OT and NT in the same way Joseph is Blue and Joseph is Green.  So in the example, Isaiah and Scroll of Isaiah have the same testament because they are both OT and Emperor Galba and Scroll of Isaiah have the same testament because they are both NT, so that's two characters with the same testament as Scroll of Isaiah so it's safe from Chaldeans.

I agree with this.  INE, but the statement "When Isaiah and Emperor Galba are in play, there are two characters in play that share a testament with Scroll of Isaiah" is true.  Therefore Chaldeans can't discard SoI.

Chaldeans doesn't require all testaments to be shared between the cards, or even that both characters share a testament.  It just requires you to check the two characters for their testament, then check the artifact, and if there is a match in both case, the art is safe.

That's what my thinking was as well, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who took it that way. :P
