Can Saul be converted to Paul via conversion cards like Holy Grail or enhancements that convert evil characters to heroes, and if so, would he still be multi-colored or would he be the color the card dictates?

Yes, he always converts to multicolor from Saul, this is in the FAQ.

Does Paul go to potter's field?

and if Saul was converted and discarded, can the resurrection lost soul bring him back?

i really want to say yes to potter's field since it is an instead but i know you cannot target him in the discard pile as a hero because he resets to an evil character again

Potter's Field would be able to grab Paul, but things get hinky once he gets there. PF says to treat the contents as discarded heroes so, I believe, Paul would then revert back to Saul resulting in one of two things:

1. Saul would then get kicked out of PF since it only holds heroes
2. Saul is stuck in PF with no way out unless/until PF is moved to hand/deck/discard.

Personally, I'd lean towards the first result.

Potter's Field - Set this site aside. Holder's Heroes to be discarded are instead placed in this Site. Treat them as discarded Heroes.
Just one more thing...

It probably isn't too important, as Potter's Field is so rarely used, however, I am not sure what "Treat them as discarded Heroes" would really mean...If I had to, I would probably rule that the instead takes precedence, and that phrase is clarifying text that should be ignored, but hopefully I won't ever have to...

I wasn't saying the instead doesn't happen, but rather what would happen if the "Treat Hero as..." portion isn't clarifying text when Paul arrived in Potter's Field.

I always thought that cards were reset to face value when they hit discard pile, not just when they were discarded.  Thus, Paul would be treated as a "discarded hero," but since he wasn't in discard pile itself he's not reset.

Alright, I can accept that.

Here's a question though. I block with Emp Augustus. Your NT heroes in Potter's Field return to your territory as PF offers no protection to its contents. Do they stay in territory or, because they are treated as discarded heroes, do they try to discard themselves only to end up back in PF?

Emperor Augustus - All N.T. humans in set aside areas must return to owner's territories. All opponents with a N.T. human in territory must discard a card from hand without using it.

Again, I would have to make the same ruling as in the previous case, because "Treat them as discarded Heroes" doesn't mean anything that I know of. I would also probably justify that stance by saying that once they are only treated as such while in PF, so once released, they are no longer treated that way.

But again, the most likely solution will involve giving Potter's Field an errata/play as to remove that phrase.

I would have thought "Treat them as discard heroes" was partly to get around duplicates in play/set-aside.

Whatever the reasoning was, anyone who could probably answer the question as to what was intended is probably no longer involved in the game (as I don't think any of the current playtesters were playtesters back in 1998 when Warriors came out - and the Kings version is just an exact restating of the Warriors ability).
