Potter's Field

If the combos Lambo wants to do with Potter's Field don't work because they're not "Heroes," they're "Discarded Heroes," how do any of the cards that get "Heroes" out of Potter's Field work? And for that matter, how does any card ever that gets a "Hero" out of the Discard Pile work?
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

For the record, what Pol is talking about was when I pointed out the inconsistency with the quick Goshen ruling made when that card was released. I was told I was not able to simply remove characters from Potter's Field because they are discarded heroes.

I just made the connection last night that NOTHING should work with Potter's Field then, as they only target Heroes and not Discarded Heroes.

I would venture the reason is that saying "Heroes in Potter's Field/discard pile" is equivalent to saying "discarded heroes in PF/discard pile". That is, discarded Heroes are Heroes that are in one of those locations. So they can be targeted by cards that target discarded Heroes specifically, and they can be targeted by cards that target Heroes specifically in those locations.

A tad complex of course, and it probably wouldn't be OP'd to simplify it and say that there is no real distinction between Heroes and discarded Heroes, but that's all I can think of as to why it is what it is.

The problem would be that if there were no distinction, then when I played a card that banded a Hero into battle, I would be able to grab one from my discard pile or Potter's Field.  And we don't want that happening right?

The other problem is, if cards (that are supposed to work with PF) can take heroes out, and forts were just given a rule change to fix Goshen rather then an errata, then you could just take heroes out of PF as you wish.

I looked for the thread where Bryon listed what He felt should be done to avoid giving Goshen an errata, but I remember him saying that if a card does NOT specify any way to take a card out, then the general game rule would allow you to take cards out in the prep phase.

I thought Potter's Field was set aside?

True. Well, perhaps the cards that can remove Heroes from Potter's Field just need Play As. And it can continue to be pretty much useless.

PF says: "Heal Heroes being discarded and hold them here instead. Potter's Field may hold any number of Heroes"
So they aren't discarded because they've been healed

Potter's Field (Ki)
Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set this site aside. Holder's Heroes to be discarded are instead placed in this Site. Treat them as discarded Heroes. • Play As: Heal Heroes being discarded and hold them here instead. Potter's Field may hold any number of Heroes. • Identifiers: Play to set-aside area. • Verse: Matthew 27:7 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Uncommon)

again we have play as vs. original S.A. Which one is correct?

That's weird that the original ability says to treat them as d/c'ed Heroes, but the play-as says to heal them and hold them... Two contradicting ideals?

It would seem that the Play As here is one that should be retermed errata, or taken away altogether. I have no idea why it was put in like that. Potter's Field should be an instead ability. Since we don't errata cards to make them better, I'm guessing the Play As will simply be removed.
